Friday's Fab Finds
This week I found some great New York Finds....
Kimchi Taco- Kimchi... A vegetable pickle seasoned with garlic, red pepper, and ginger that is the national dish of Korea. A little bit of Korea mixed with Italian, Mexican, Japenese and French influences. I savored the Kimchi Arancini... kimchi fried rice combined with queso Oaxaca and Parmesan coated with panko and Italian bradcrumbs... Yum! Next I tested some tacos! My fave being the seared spicy pork. There are several ways to encompass these Kimch delights besides the tacos... try the rice or noodle bowl or even a burrito. The possibilities are endless.
A Good Fork- We stumbled upon this fab dinner spot while hanging in Red Hook before an event. Owned by a husband and wife team, the husband a former carpenter who remodeled the space on his own. His wife is the chef and she makes KILLER pork and chive dumplings. Worth traveling to for these tasty treasure alone. Definitely a spot we will head back too. Bonus, you can take the ferry from Pier 11 to Red Hook on the weekends at no cost! Anyone up for Sunday brunch?
Widow Jane Whiskey- We were fortunate to be invited to the launch of this small batch, Made in Brooklyn, whiskey. Distilled using Rosendale Limestone from a quarry here in NY, this artisinal product is worth a swig. This particular limestone possesses an even higher ratio of beneficial minerals than that found in Kentucky and its sparkling waters are as pure as its namesake. Interestingly enough this quarry provided the limestone used to build New York iconic landmarks including the Brooklyn Bridge, Lady Liberty and the Empire State Building. Go Figure! There are a limited number of bottles available and they are going fast. Reserve yours before they are... poof... gone!
P.s. The Good Fork offers Widow Jane on their beverage menu... locals supporting
locals :)
Happy Weekend!
