Kim Dyes Yarn sent her fiber! Yarns arriving tonight. #indiedyerextravaganza #theyarnclub #yarnclub #kimdyesyarn (at The Yarn Club)
Went to a LYS with @dreamsinombre and had to come home with these two. The left is by Kim Dyes Yarn, and the right is Madelinetosh.
I'm so excited that I get to give this yarn to my mom tomorrow! She asked me to spin some for her after seeing a picture of my Sunday Brunch handspun from @kimdyesyarn and I think she got all googly eyed when I told her it was Polworth wool and silk, ha ha! So I sent her a link to Kim's colorways and totally overwhelmed her with color, of course. But she finally decided on this gorgeous golden colorway and I had so much fun spinning it into this giant gradient cake! It was, admittedly, a bit if a challenge separating the sections of color out to do it this way, but I'm pretty tickled with the results and I can't wait to see what she knits with it! And yes, I spun her an s twist yarn! Although don't ask me about what happened when I realized about two hours into plying it that I had somehow managed to force my z twist singles into a z twist ply... I just stared at it in shock when I realized what I'd done. I didn't even know I COULD make it do that! It was a feat of pure stubbornness to unspin and respin that yellow end, but by golly I did it. And it was amazing how much softer it felt even on the bobbin when it was plied the correct way! I'm just thankful I was able to fix it - and that I realized it before I'd plied the entire thing! #alwayslearning #kimdyesyarn #connieleespins https://www.instagram.com/p/CJFXVT7piHI/?igshid=1ewsafpqchzkm
@kimdyesyarn I did it! Now to wash the beast... #kimdyesyarn #connieleespins https://www.instagram.com/p/CIZpuhDp-2n/?igshid=1cuz4ljan1h26
295 yards. 110 grams. 10-11 WPI chain ply. Bed of Iris from @kimdyesyarn. My first Falkland Wool spin! I really enjoyed the subtle colors in this and I think it would make a really beautiful hat. Or a cowl. You know I love cowls! But this is very ... wintery magic with promises of spring for me. Okay maybe a little Frozen, too, but what can I say? We have a four year old. We've seen it a time or two. 😂 #connieleespins #kimdyesyarn https://www.instagram.com/p/CIHULwoJ5os/?igshid=dmd9f26yetxb
I finally got it all spun!! It only took me seven weeks and about 22 hours, ha ha. I took my time with this one, though, as Mom wants more of a fingering/sport weight. Gonna give it a few days to rest and then get to work with the plying!
