MY K-POP WIRE at live: XIA (Kim Junsu) Defies Gravity with an Emotional Reunion at ‘GRAVITY’ in Kuala Lumpur
After years of anticipation, XIA (Kim Junsu) finally returned to Malaysia with 2026 XIA 6TH ASIA TOUR CONCERT ‘GRAVITY’, delivering an evening that blended powerhouse vocals, heartfelt storytelling, and nostalgic moments at Zepp Kuala Lumpur. More than just a concert, the long-awaited reunion celebrated the enduring bond between XIA and the fans who have supported him throughout every chapter of his career.
From the very beginning, XIA made Malaysian fans feel right at home by sharing his affection for the country. He revealed that Malaysian mangoes are among the sweetest he has ever tasted and surprised the audience by admitting his love for durian despite its famously strong aroma. Having previously visited Kota Kinabalu, he expressed his hope to return to Malaysia more often, earning warm cheers from the crowd.
One of the evening's biggest highlights came during the beloved "Genie Time" segment, where XIA granted three wishes submitted by fans. The interactive session quickly turned into a celebration of his remarkable career, as he surprised the audience with nostalgic performances of TVXQ classics "Tonight" and "Always There…", before sending the venue into a frenzy with an iconic dance performance of "Mirotic." He also showcased his musical theatre background with playful impersonations of his character from Beetlejuice, effortlessly switching between humour and performance while filling the venue with laughter.
The emotional atmosphere deepened when a fan shared that it was their very first opportunity to see XIA in person after supporting him for 22 years. The heartfelt confession visibly moved both the artist and the audience, serving as a touching reminder of the lasting connection he has built with fans across generations. Another memorable moment came when XIA gratefully received handmade plush toys specially prepared by Malaysian fans for both himself and fellow JYJ member Kim Jaejoong, highlighting the thoughtfulness and unwavering support of his fanbase.
Throughout the evening, XIA reflected on his long journey as an artist, expressing his gratitude that many fans have remained by his side since his TVXQ days. Seeing longtime supporters attending the concert alongside newer fans made the reunion even more meaningful, reinforcing the timeless bond that continues to unite multiple generations of listeners.
Musically, GRAVITY showcased the full breadth of XIA's artistry. Emotional performances of "Forest of Memories," "My Night," and "Slowly" highlighted the warmth and sensitivity of his vocals, while songs such as "Beat's Knockin'," "Red Diamond," "XIAHTIC," "ROCK THE WORLD," "GRAVITY," and "INCREDIBLE" transformed the venue into a high-energy celebration. The carefully balanced setlist allowed XIA to move effortlessly between intimate ballads and explosive dance performances, demonstrating the versatility that has defined his career for more than two decades.
By the end of the night, GRAVITY had become more than the title of the tour. It reflected the invisible force that continues to draw XIA and his fans back to one another, regardless of time or distance. More than 20 years into his career, XIA once again proved why he remains one of K-pop's most respected performers, delivering a concert built not only on exceptional vocals and captivating stage presence, but also on sincerity, gratitude, and an enduring connection with the people who have supported him every step of the way.
