Slides under the deadline of meteorological spring with a last winter sewing project.
Tacchan needed a lower body garment that can be worn a) over down-filled pants to make them look cute b) while bicycling, because even if we take the train we have to bike there.
I picked up this wool crepe kimono from the sewing workshop bargain-bin at the Kuwana machi-no-eki two? years? ago and it ended up sitting around in the scrap bag due to executive dysfunction making mountains out of molehills (serger needed tuneup, iron needed replacing, needed a real ironing board). But I Did The Things and was able to remake it! I used the complete yardage of the kimono, the matching hat used the last of the scraps. I didn't use a pattern, it's just a huge pair of pants box-pleated to a wide back-elastic waistband with shoulder straps.
