Next up in Kyoto was the Imperial Palace. This will be part A...since there are a ton of photos for the palace Which was only a few blocks away from Hotel Okura Kyoto @hotelokurakyoto . So quite easy to get to and convenient. We ended up walking around for a while and almost missed the main entrance. In which we had to walk back and then enter the correct way. Which I'm glad we did because this was a really impressive thing to see. The history alone makes it worth seeing. But also the beautiful architecture and the gardens that surround the palace are astonishing. Simply beauty and power mixed together for the leadership of Japan throughout history. Also the three rooms with the tigers and cranes and floral patterns were the different levels of guests that were allowed to stay in each of those rooms. Next stop on our first trip to Japan was Kyoto. We took the Shinkansen 🚅 to Kyoto from Shizuoka, the kinda failed stop...lol We stayed at Hotel Okura in Kyoto @hotelokurakyoto . Which was an extremely nice hotel and great location in general. Definitely worth the stay if you're going to Kyoto. The hotel happened to be right across the street from the Kyoto Shinkyogoku Shopping Street @shinkShinkyogok. So we started checking it out and found many shrines and temples that had been moved to that location. Especially the Nishiki-Tenmangu Shrine. Where I bought some of the charms shown in the photos. For family members and friends when I got home. This was only the first stop and first day of our time there. And I have many photos of the Imperial Palace and temples and shrines we visited throughout Kyoto. After the museum and Diver City was visited. Our next stop in Tokyo was Akihabra. We were staying in Chiyoda City at a pretty nice hotel called Hotel Niwa. Only a couple stops away from Akihabara. So this was our first stop there and we did a ton of walking and checked out Akihabara Radio Kaikan. We kind of killed ourselves that day and had the rest a little bit from all the walking we did. But it was really awesome seeing all the different places and shops. Didn't realize though we miss so much. So I went back the day of my birthday and bought a few things plus found some Gundam arcade games. I will get more into that later. So this is just from the first time we hit Akihabra and right before my birthday. Next photos will be of my birthday and what we did. Side note, we did check out the TAMASHII NATIONS TOKYO store. That is where the Gundam and Macross model photos come from. The displays were amazing and I did want to buy a couple of them. But I prefer building gunpla's. But they did look phenomenal especially the rotating display of the Macross unit switch into veritech and suit form. Kinda Geeky podcast is back... Been about 5 months since the last episode. But with so many life events going on and my car being in the shop for over a month. Not much could have been done about that. Finally getting back to a recording schedule with my podcast co-host Julio. Who also had some major life events as well too. However we got to sit down and talk about some of the conventions we've gone to since August. Also a lot of the hit movies that we've seen and some of our favorite video games so far this year. Like I said, back on a regular schedule now so we will have the anniversary episode and end of the year episode coming up in December. And also hopefully an interview at LA Comic Con.
