So I was looking for these coins you can get for kids on Oriental Trading (literally orientaltrading.com) that said “I was caught being good”. OT has this feature that shows you related items you might like where I saw something called Kindness Coins (they now also have Pawsome coins and coins of appreciation). I got some and started giving them as a tangible thank you. It helped me accept help at a time I resented my body needing me to do that. I was talking to a friend tonight and came up with a new idea for them. Take a glass jar. Next to it put a piggy bank. Put loose change and extra bills into the bank. Now every time someone does something for someone in the house, you give them a coin and they put it in the jar. It can be thanks for making dinner or doing laundry or picking up a room or whatever. When the jar is full, pull out the bank and give the household a treat. It might be fast food or a movie or going on a picnic or buying a new game. See what happens. Oh and carry a few coins with you daily. Give them to your barista or waitstaff or nurse or a veteran you meet during the day. I’ve been doing it for ten years now. Out of all that time fewer than a dozen people had a negative reaction. I tell people to put it in their pocket and remember someone appreciates what they do. #kindnesscoins #dailykindness #kindnessmatters #kindness (at Murfreesboro, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/BogeAmjB_ot/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yzppzhtc5ft
