Here's my submission for the Kindred Fates Cryptic Journal since I have backed the project on patreon! It's been a while since I created a fakemon/kinfake type of oc. This one is based on a bridal veil mushroom!
----
Veiloom
Type: Gaia
Veiloom lives within the swamplands as a lonely mushroom. It can sense negative forms of emotions from humans, and thus will try to isolate itself in the toughest swampy terrain it can find; however, deep down Veiloom seeks connections and friendships. Negativity from people's relationships will only make Veiloom hide more and more. It rejoices if it witnesses an act of true love. If Veiloom is able to experience the happiest of emotions with others, it will want to come out from the swamp and venture the outer worlds with a friend.
Rab-roo is a very immobile kinfolk. They cannot care for themselves whatsoever. Everything needs to be handed to them, making them the perfect targets. Rab-roo always gets trampled over as if it was just a dummy with no feelings. Rab-roo holds a blank expression whenever they are hurt, but they still feel some dark emotions dwelling deep inside of them.
Kangator (Kane - gah - tore)
Type: Null
Kangator, the parent kinfolk, takes no funny business from no one. Evolving through having hatred of the world, their goal is to protect their young. They will fight their way through others if it means to give their young a better life. If you attempt to trick a Kangator, they will see through it instantly; you better be prepared to take a hit. Kangator are known for their use of wrestling-styled moves. Many Kangator are famous wrestlers. The Rab-roo in their pouch is never let out, leaving them to never gain experience, and therefore never evolve.
Bunitty (Bun - nih - tii)
Type: Null
Bunitty, the narcissistic artist kinfolk, evolves through wanting the approval of others. They truly hurt inside, but will put on a facade that they are confident. They do truly gain an artistic talent through this evolution, the most famous artists of the world being Bunitty. Bunitty tends to hide their feelings, but if you gain their trust, maybe you will open their heart, and unlock a path for them to become a better kinfolk. They tend to fold one of their ears to look like a hat, as a form of style. When completely upset, they will hide in their shell.
Lunare (Lune - nare)
Type: Gaia
Lunare, the philosopher kinfolk, evolves through finding self worth. They will learn to embrace emotions, and also forgive others. This kinfolk wants to live life in the future rather than the past. They are able to summon star minions to help them in battle, making them a Gaia kinfolk.
Me and three other people came together to create a mushroom monster tree! The collab was started as a “prize” for the winner of the Kinfake Mushroom Fan Contest! (^-^) I drew all of these portraits, but only one of them is my original design! I will credit the monster design to the proper owner! The monster descriptions/typings are also made by their owners too (with the help of my proof-reading/editing and such)! Hope you like it! (Note: I created these templates for my monster designs, inspired by how Instagram Fakemon artists post their monsters! Expect to see my past monsters re-uploaded with this original template!)

Geogi (Jee - oh - jee)
Type: Earth [rock]
Geogi are small mushroom resembling Kinfolk that dwell deep within cave systems. The tops of their heads sport what appear to be a dazzling array of colorful gemstones, but in reality are hardened growths that strangely act much like seeds or spores would, and will slowly shed off and regrow overtime, attaching themselves onto the ground and eventually growing into new Geogi. The color of said gemstone can change tint overtime depending on it’s diet; it is believed that the tint can affect what they will evolve into.
They are known to be timid and frightened easily; if spooked they will tuck their head and limbs into the umbrella shaped rocky covering that protects the lower part of it’s body.

Sporewl (Sporr - yuu - ull)
Type: Gaia, Earth lean [grass/rock]
Geogi evolves into Sporewl when it’s gem spores become a light blue tint. This gem color is obtained through giving Geogi a certain diet.
Sporewl are overgrown mushrooms that use their shedded gem spores to exchange with and take people’s priceless jewels and riches. Sporewl are known to be greedy merchants. Though this may sound evil, they aren’t really malicious, and are friendly.

Mushallah (Moo - sha - la)
Type: Earth [rock]
Geogi evolves into Mushallah usually from when Geogi eats an overwhelming amount of food, causing it’s body and gems on its head to swell to an enormous size, while also causing the gems to turn into a green tint. This physical transformation is associated with a personality transformation as well, resulting in Mushallah becoming much more brave and independent than it’s more timid Geogi counterpart.
Mushallah, upon evolving will leave its original cave home behind and use its newfound powers to create an ornate gem cave system of its own. It is not long before the large gems on Mushallah’s head shed off periodically, giving life to new Geogi. Mushallah have a large sense of responsibility for the shy Geogi that populate it’s cave, as well as the other kinfolk that reside there. Mushallah are known for their hospitality and generosity and do whatever it takes to ensure the health and safety of those it cares about. Mushallah often leaves it’s caves to visit human villages to trade it’s gems for resources that Mushallah deems important for the prosperity of it’s cave’s residents. The price of it’s gems are famously fair, and humans trip over themselves to be the first customer of a Mushallah that just arrived in town. Mushallah are known to be generous traveling merchants.
Don’t try to haggle a Mushallah and especially don’t try to steal from them, as they see those who do as a threat to their cave and those who live there. There hasn’t been any known survivors that have attempted this.

Rubae (Roo - bay)
Type: Earth, Fire lean [rock/fire]
Geogi evolves into Rubae through having a forced bad diet given by it’s trainer. Geogi will tell it’s trainer when it doesn’t like a certain food; if this is ignored and forced, Geogi will retain it’s red gem color instead of switching to another tint. Red is the original, natural gem color of Geogi and can be considered normal most of the time, but Geogi that have been treated badly in their diet can also keep the same gem color. You would not be able to tell at a glance the diet of a red spore gem Geogi. The other colors are more obvious to a Geogi gem inspector.
Rubae evolves from a deep love/hate friendship with it’s trainer. It cannot stand how it’s trainer can put them through such cruel meals, but it loves their trainer regardless. Rubae’s broken heart makes it act awfully revengeful towards its trainer, and they’ll even try to overpower them. Rubae will try to control their trainer’s life, doing their best to prevent their trainer from growing closer to other monsters or people. They easily get jealous.
Rubae looks like a bride, as it is a bridal veil mushroom. Angry people that are not over a break up will bring Rubae to their ex-lover’s wedding in order to bring “bad luck” on their marriage; however, this is only a superstition. You still would not want to be caught with a Rubae next to some newlyweds to avoid public stigma.
Extra: Shiny/Phantom Rubae have amethyst colored gem spores, and have a black bridal gown and veil.
Muchama, the beckoning cat kinfolk (also known as the lucky cat kinfolk, or new years kinfolk), is a very bright and playful kinfolk. They love activities such as crafting good luck charms and Narbble fishing. As an attack, they can shoot fireworks, making this kinfolk lean towards fire. They love putting up a display for people to enjoy. It’s said if you meet this kinfolk in the wild, you’ll have 10 years of good luck. Muchama that are already residents in your neighborhood don’t count towards this superstition! It’s extremely rare that you’ll find one roaming about in the wild, so don’t count much on it. Muchama loves to toy with fish-kinfolk, if they are small enough for them to throw around. This cat cannot resist nibbling on them, to the dismay of the fish-kinfolk. Muchama speak in third person, often saying cat puns throughout their dialogues. If you befriend a Muchama, you’re in for a great time on New Years!
Here are some legendary/mythical kinfakes I created (which were originally fakemon).
Komiko (koh - mii - koh)
Type: Light
Komiko, the baby nature spirit, is unknown to humankind. No human has seen or thought of it’s existence, which makes this kinfolk a rarity, and even a legend. Komiko is like any other resident kinfolk of the forest. Komiko eats, sleeps, and ventures in complete harmony with it’s surroundings. No kinfolk finds this creature a threat, making Komiko a “repellent” towards aggressive kinfolk. Komiko has no goal but to watch over it’s fellow kinfolk, never interacting for or against them, even if a fight is occurring. The only time Komiko will step in to interfere is if a human is causing trouble. They will stay hidden, manipulating light to give the human hallucinations that will guide them away from the area. The hallucination can vary from a dangerously strong kinfolk to scare them off, or a phantom kinfolk that’s catching their attention. Komiko lives by peace if it’s able to. Komiko usually scrunches up it’s body when walking on land, but if it jumps in the air, it’s body will fully extend. Komiko can also fly through the air by manipulating the light around it, as if it’s “swimming” through the sky (which also extends it’s body). If it turns to night, Komiko won’t be able to fly anymore. A newly born Komiko is found in your journey once you find a ridiculously large egg inside a mysterious forest. The egg will only hatch if it feels it’s “parent” has returned. If you possess a lot of positive energy, Komiko will hatch right before your eyes, believing you are the one to nurture and take care of them.
Loh-Yin (low - yin)
Type: Air
Loh-Yin, the spirit of the skies, is known from many human made legends. People have spotted Loh-Yin in the sky during times of true disaster. Loh-Yin is the protector of people, and will defend villages from havocing kinfolk and natural disasters. Loh-Yin travels across the entire globe, through day and night, looking for humans that are in need of help. They say, if you are saved by Loh-Yin, they will grant you one wish. In it’s instinct, it knows where exactly to travel to whenever something goes wrong in the world. This kinfolk is extremely friendly. It still possesses the power to manipulate light into hallucinations from it’s previous evolution.
Loh-Yang (low - yang)
Type: Light
Loh-Yang, the spirit of the forests, is known from some human made legends. The less favorable of the two, Loh-Yang, is in charge of protecting kinfolk during times of true disaster. Whenever kinfolks are fighting with each other, or they are stuck in some natural disaster, Loh-Yang will come to their aid. Loh-Yang can fly in the sky through manipulating the light around it (only during the daytime), but it prefers to stay on the ground. It can use it’s glowing antennae as a “flashlight” to travel through darker areas. In it’s instinct, it knows where exactly to travel to whenever something goes wrong in the world. This kinfolk is extremely friendly to kinfolk; it doesn’t care much for humans. It still possesses the power to manipulate light into hallucinations from it’s previous evolution.
Loh-Yin and Loh-Yang both work alone; but, if there is such a large travesty that requires the both of them to come together, then they will do it no matter what they “aim to protect”. They will go against their own principles if it means for the greater good.
I created these three kinfake’s as potential evolutions to the deer kinfolk (which has no name at this time, so I’ll just refer to it as Deer). This was made for a contest hosted by the devs of Kindred Fates. Goodluck to everyone! These three are based on the zodiac signs Taurus, Aries, and Capricorn. I would have done all of the zodiac but I didn’t have time, so I just picked the three that I felt fit Deer the most.
Deerus (deer - rus)
Type: Earth
Deerus evolves from Deer, shedding it’s once “halo horn” into a real halo. It is shaped as a moon, levitating behind Deerus’ head at all times, unless it is attacking. When Deerus attacks, it uses it’s levitating halo as a “boomerang” of sorts, launching it with a magical force to attack it’s enemy. The halo will return to Deerus after a full swing is completed. This kinfolk is careful to not damage it’s own body, and will use it’s halo to give some distance between itself and it’s foe. When Deerus grow’s out it’s original horn through evolution, it grows two new horns. These horns possess a very large amount of magical energy than previously before. This kinfolk is known to be able to tell fortunes, and can even look into the future through it’s second set of orb eyes. Not only can they use these orbs to physically “see” around them, they can also use it to look into an individual’s mind, soul, and future. No matter how many times you try to ask Deerus to give you a fortune about how you’ll die, Deerus refuses to answer, as it does not like feeling negative energy to those who hear the results. Deerus prefer living in areas with lots of greenery, with a mild warmth. They only reveal themselves to humans who they feel are worthy of their power.
Ariam (Ah - ree - am)
Type: Fire
Ariam evolves from Deer, shedding it’s once “halo horn” into a real halo. It is shaped as a star, levitating behind Ariam’s head at all times, unless it is attacking. When Ariam attacks, it uses it’s levitating halo as a “boomerang” of sorts, launching it with a magical force to attack it’s enemy. The halo will return to Ariam after a full swing is completed. This kinfolk is careful to not damage it’s own body, and will use it’s halo to give some distance between itself and it’s foe. When Ariam grow’s out it’s original horn through evolution, it grows two new horns. No matter how many times you try to ask Ariam to give you a fortune about how you’ll die, Ariam refuses to answer, as it does not like feeling negative energy to those who hear the results. Ariam prefer living in deserted, hot areas. They only reveal themselves to humans who they feel are worthy of their power.
Orcacorn (Or - kah - corn)
Type: Light
Orcacorn evolves from Deer, shedding it’s once “halo horn” into a real halo. It is shaped as a star, levitating behind Orcacorn’s head at all times, unless it is attacking. When Orcacorn attacks, it uses it’s levitating halo as a “boomerang” of sorts, launching it with a magical force to attack it’s enemy. The halo will return to Orcacorn after a full swing is completed. This kinfolk is careful to not damage it’s own body, and will use it’s halo to give some distance between itself and it’s foe. When Orcacorn grow’s out it’s original horn through evolution, it grows two new horns. No matter how many times you try to ask Orcacorn to give you a fortune about how you’ll die, Orcacorn refuses to answer, as it does not like feeling negative energy to those who hear the results. Orcacorn prefer living in the ocean. They only reveal themselves to humans who they feel are worthy of their power.
This kinfake was made for an unofficial Kindred Fates fan contest!
Keroom (keh - room)
Type: Earth
Keroom is a mushroom kinfolk that inhabits moist areas, such as swamps, or rain forests. This peculiar kinfolk survives on consuming the life force of a being through it’s poisonous sticky spores. Don’t let it’s innocent and playful nature trick you. They can eat away at your soul in just a few seconds. These kinfolk can blend in with their habitat by hiding their bodies beneath the ground to the point where their bright mushroom ears poke out just enough to appear natural (they also use this technique to dodge attacks). If you’re unaware of what Keroom’s ears look like, you may end up in a battle against one when trying to look for precious herbs. Their mushroom ears look tempting to collect, as their hue stands out more than any ordinary swamp or forest mushroom; however, this is one of the leading causes towards human deaths due to Keroom spores. Always be cautious near a mushroom! If you want to befriend and tame a Keroom, you must play a song for it. Keroom loves music, and can easily dance along to any tune. If you show Keroom that you are as fun loving as they are, they will begin to trust you.
This line of monsters was made specifically to be a fan kinfolk (or maybe call it kinfake), rather than a fakemon, but you could consider it for a fakemon too. Kinfolk are monsters from the video game Kindred Fates.
Phawn (Fuh - on)
Type: Mecha
This robotic deer, named as Phawn, is a peculiar kinfolk. No one knows how they came to be apart of this world, as they are unlike any other kinfolk. Their look is so very unique, it feels as if they came from another planet. This kinfolk line is able to telepathically communicate with one another, even from any far away distance. No Phawn is usually lost away from it’s pack, as it can always find it’s way back through telepathy (unless it’s being interfered by another being). These kinfolk were the inspiration to how humans created telephones; however, some people prefer to use their Phawn as their own phone as it’s seen as more “trendy” and “cool”. This line of kinfolk can even show emotions, despite their body being stiff. Their “dial eyes” can glow into different colors.
When they’re feeling joy, they may even spin their dial around to show it more! When their eye’s are glowing pure white, it just means they need to look in the dark. These kinfolk try to avoid wetting their heads as much as possible, as they feel an intense pain when it happens. They are afraid of water kinfolk.
Telephant (Te - le - fuh - ant)
Type: Mecha
As Phawn gets stronger, it can evolve into Telephant. Telephant is more strong willed and strongly built than Phawn, making it less fearful of others. It still has a dislike for water kinfolk, but it won’t ever run from a provoked fight. It’s pain from water is greatly reduced. Telephant’s are musical creatures. Their trunks can play the most beautiful music that comes from a Telephant’s own imagination. This makes them popular at fancy restaurants or events. Their “bone tail” and “back spike” can be used to let Telephant play a record through it’s trunk. Telephant can only remember music created by humans by playing a record on it’s back. It’s back was the inspiration for humans to create phonographs. When you ride Telephant, you can play a record on it’s back while exploring to keep your favorite tune with you, whenever you want! Telephant’s are very friendly, so if you cross by one in the wild, ask for a song and see what they come up with!
Reinbooth (Rain - booth)
Type: Light
Reinbooth is another evolution Phawn gets through very particular conditions unlike Telephant. Phawn must be drenched in water to the point where, when it’s about to evolve, it exchanges it’s tanky-ness from it’s anticipated Telephant form, into a glass shell evolution. This glass shell protect’s most of it’s body from water, and now it can sit under the rain with no problems. It may look hard for Reinbooth to move around with such a huge rectangular glass shell covering most of it’s body, but fear not, for Reinbooth conveniently has holes in it’s shell to place it’s arms and legs through whenever it wants. If it’s shell gets tipped over and onto the ground, it can put it’s whole body inside the shell, and push the shell back into it’s correct form. Being inside a shell for all of it’s life makes it hard for Reinbooth to pick up telepathic calls from it’s fellow kinfolk line through it’s own ears on it’s head; however, this issue is usually avoided since it’s shell has a pair of special ears itself. It continues to use telepathy through the shell ears. If it’s shell’s ears were to be covered in some way (possibly by mud), it would not be able to hear telepathically at all (but it can still hear from a normal distance through the holes in the glass of the shell). It will try to find one of it’s fellow kinfolk through exploration in the wild, so they could get help from them personally to clean their shell ears. People don’t really pay attention much to how Reinbooth can be evolved from Phawn, and so not many exist in urban areas. They have no popular use, unlike Phawn and Telephant. Reinbooth can feel jealousy towards Phawn and Telephant because of how lonely they are. They usually roam the wild alone (unless they need help), since they feel less afraid with a glass shell shielding them at all times.
