Horse hairs Raku is a peculiar technique. . When pieces are extracted glowing red form the kiln they don't show any pattern while completely unglazed. As soon the temperature cool down a bit, horse (or cow) hairs are placed on the ceramic surface. The high heat burns the organic material trapping the carbon and creating amazing black abstract drawings. You can, actually, use any organic material to create unexpected patterns. In this case we also used some feathers ... Pretty cool, isn't it?? .
