The Binding Ritual
This ritual is the most powerful Act of Love. It’s the ultimate Act of Devotion and Absolute Faith between Lovers that even transcends after Death.
There are multiple forms on how The Binding Ritual is enacted due to the increase of different special marriage. The most popular and the most dangerous forms of The Binding Ritual is from the Winged Folk.
They will both fly into the sky of dangerous heights, circling each other before they lock their claws together. Then they fall into a spiraling motion. The winged folk will spew out a bit of their magical abilities, and they let go of each other in the last minute. This concludes the ritual.
The Binding Ritual requires both Lovers to do something extraordinary dangerous, and must be sanctioned by The High Priest Whisperer of Death.
It’s believed that when one of the Lovers die, they will stay with their partner until they die too. This is so they can both pass on to the Afterlife together.
Due to how dangerous this ritual is it’s not performed a lot, and if Lovers want to perform this ritual they must prove that their love for each other is true and absolute. Otherwise, there will be severe consequences for any acts of betrayal.
Lovers could be killed during the ritual, and if the belief is true...then it truly must be painful. One can’t see that their loved one is truly there and close by, always staying by their side till the day you die. While the other one is forced to see the one they love grow old and suffer till the day they die.
One can’t see while the other is forced to see.
Origin
No one knows where the Binding Ritual came from as transcripts and notes of its origin disappeared throughout time and during the Corruptant War Era. Many Historians speculate and theorize that the origin of the Binding Ritual may have come from or was inspired by King Caedis and his undying love for his wife.
