for real imagining scourge and surge taking one look at each other and deciding in their twin infinitely shitty decision making that they want to tap that is great. siblings in identity crisis, defining themselves as against sonic in totally different ways. fucked up green little chaos monsters who don’t know their purpose but are going to carve it out in blood on the backs of anyone who tries to get in their way. scourge knows he’s running from himself, from the truth that he’ll never be who he desperately wishes he was, while she’s trying to claw out her past from a labyrinth of a brain that she can’t deprogram without losing what little she thinks she knows of herself. wanting power and control but unable to truly attain it because they’ll tear themselves apart in the process, hand in unlovable hand.

I will love Surge as her own character I'm sure, but imagining redemption au Scourge, when he sees this cocky little orphan shithead with lightning powers who clings to him because SHE thinks he's cool, has his long-buried big brother instinct activate and Sonic has to drag BOTH of them towards being Not The Worst.

On one hand, Scourge genuinely caring for somebody who has a positive relationship with him back is definitely a big step forward since Fiona didn't come back for him and she was like... all he had, but on the other hand, they just both set a bunch of trees on fire for the second time this week. Even when he's got the collar on, he's still plenty capable of mischief, even if Nicole can snuff it out quickly.
