I’m working on a fanfic about the Zonai’s origins (and disappearance) which will flesh out a bit more story that I wanted to see in totk. It follows Rauru and Sonia’s daughter as she’s left behind after the imprisoning war.

I have a basic outline written and character designs are in the early stages. But I’m excited to share it with people and am trying really hard not to spoil my own fanfic. 😭

People keep comparing Rauru from Tears of the Kingdom to a goat, but I think he more closely resembles a hare. His sister definitely looks like one. The Zonai aesthetic seems to be inspired by a mix of American and East Asian cultures, so his horns could be a very subtle nod to the jackalope.
