About the Chess kingdom
The Black Chess kingdom is a peaceful kingdom on the north side of the country. The capital city is called Caissa, after the first Queen. They’re a mainly land bordered country, the only sea being along the capital city and a few towns afterward. There are a few smaller ‘governments’ inside of the kingdom but they are all ruled over by the king and queen.
They have been rivals with the White Chess Kingdom for as long as their history has been written. No one is exactly sure how it started, some say it was a love affair gone wrong. Either way, they know the ending result. Not only are they constantly at war but the royalty of the black chess kingdom has been cursed.
No male from the family will live to be beyond forty, if they’re lucky to make it that far. The men of the family have been cursed to be weaker than any other member of the court, either with sickness or just being physically weaker and unable to keep up with fighting for a long period of time. Their deaths are meant to look like accidents, nothing nice about them either.
This is why Astrid is so physically weak and isn’t a loud to leave the castle most of the time.
