Apprentice
I have been going crazy lately. I haven't been able to work out much, no hunting, and all of this has made me physically very anxious, so last week I decided I needed to get out of the house. I went with Tank to his dojo. There I met the owner Mack, his ex-step daughter Christy and a few others. Evidently as Tank came here, he has been bringing a bunch of LGBT people and it has turned into basically a rainbow dojo.
Tank had evidently talked about me in the past and Mack had a bunch of questions about the King's Path. I talked with Mack and the rest of his group, explained the path and was met with some doubtful looks. Tank encouraged Mack and the others to spar with me, and he made it clear even with being pregnant that they shouldn't underestimate me.
The sparring was so damn fun. I tried them individually and ended the night sparring five on one. I don't think anyone but Tank actually got any shots in on me, and even Tank's were mostly in passing. It surprised everyone, but honestly I was surprised too. I was so surprised at how easy the sparring was. None of the people except Tank would last in a fight with most paranormal creatures and even Tank would be hard pressed to hold his own. I thought that a triple black belt could teach me, but I don't think he can match my speed. Although he does have a bunch of skills I don't in small weapons. I really do need to learn that so I think it will be beneficial. Also I like Mack, I want to help him learn how to fight things like me.
I called Baylor in, and even with a lot of grumpiness he agreed to spar. He evidently likes it as well. I suspect we will both be visiting Mack's on a weekly basis, holding classes and I am hoping to learn some of the Asian martial arts styles with weapons. Also I absolutely love sparring hard against Baylor. He is the only person I know that challenges and matches up with me.
The one thing that caught me off guard was Mack's step-daughter (ex?). Christy is incredibly lithe and agile. I wonder if she has something in her wood pile. She is two weeks from 18 and asked if I would apprentice her. She is the only human I have met that might be able to learn the path (Mack is skilled, but too muscled, he can't move). She would lose the ability by the age of 24/25. This means if she did get trained, passed and wanted to continue she would have to eat an apple then. I told Christy she needs to get permission from her family, but it sounds like she will. Mark also approved me taking in apprentices so they can live with us.
The other realization I made was I need to change the path I follow. I need to teach myself how to use my wings in combat. Christy could learn the path fully, but my wings are not utilized enough (and are a bit of a weakness for me) so I need to adapt. I am wondering if I should pick up a second apprentice who is a faerie. I wonder if that will help me develop myself.
Now we will see how active I can stay with the baby growing inside of me. I don't think it will be bad, but others are warning me.
