The duel against Pandora had been quite exciting. The conditions were cruel and crazy, but Atem, 100% certain he would win, and thus protect not only his body but Yugi’s too, hadn’t been afraid. Should he have not agreed to this duel? Perhaps, but Yugi’s legs were already stuck when he took over, so Pandora had sealed his own fate.
The duel was won, Yugi was fine, but then he risked his own life when he helped that stupid failed magician out of his shackles. It had made Atem angry, not at Yugi, but at the Pandora, that weak people like him always brought out the protector in Yugi and he was afraid Yugi hurt himself for people who didn’t deserve it. However, Yugi appeared to be fine. Rattled, but fine.
The next day, Atem deemed it weird that Yugi had practically rushed back into the city first thing in the morning. Usually he saw Yugi as the epitome of patience and it was unusual to see him so stressed.
“Aibou? Why are you running?” Atem asked in Yugi’s subconscious as they almost reached the plaza where the tournament had started. “So eager to defeat these ghul hunters?”
