BUT a lot of scots words are still in dialects, but different parts of scotland have different words and usage of scots, so "ken" as you probably know, means "know" and it's usually said by east coast people in places like dundee! no one in for exampl glasgow would say "ken" ! ALSO the reason I'm telling you this is because the guy from outlander is from dumfries and he wouldn't say ken irl because its not east coast so every time he says it on the show it sounds kinda out of place to me (2/?)

“like it just sounds as if its unnatural for him to say which is kinda funny cause no one that's n ot scottish picks up on it (3/?)”scottish dialects are so interesting!! i had no idea scots came from a different language altogether tho, or that it was unique to different areas. i have a scottish friend and i’ve never heard her say stuff like “ken” and i assumed it was something from way back, but it makes sense that vernacular varies in dialects.

yo um i know you didn't ask but i saw in your tags about the 'ken' thing and i thought i would explain a bit, basically 'scots' used to be a language people spoke fluently (it wasn't gaelic, it was a whole other thing entirely, similar to english but not quite, think robert burns but more extreme cause he wrote for english audiences not scots) but it died out (along with gaelic) because of england so not a lot of people speak fluent scots now (1/?)

everythin ok gal??

i was literally too sad and drunk to blog ysterday but n e ways three months of pining culminated in a “yeah i kinda caught feelings” yesterday and now everything’s awkward as hell. like when i told him he couldn’t stop laughing and grinning and he was like “aight okay well i just wanna be friends” and i was like “okay yeah, i don’t expect anything from this, i just wanted to tell you so i could stop thinking about it.” and he was like “ok cool. don’t worry i won’t make a big deal out of it.” AND HE DIDN’T MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF IT BUT!!! he started talking about some other girl he was into and asking for my input and i was like “my guy, you understand why i can’t talk about this without sounding like an ugly and bitter hoe.” and at that point i think he realized how deep i was into it? and we had plans to hang after school and usually when we hang its rly nice and we both feel happy and floaty but we were both so grossly uncomfortable today.and iddk it just bothers me that in the span of a week we went from talking all day every day and always somehow touching each other to him not responding to my texts and barely being able to make eye contact. i look so weak and pathetic now this is everything i wanted to avoid by telling him. 

but anyway, don’t show weakness in front of men or it will lead to drinkking smirnoff out of a bottle while studying for a test

hi again. and anyway we kissed? i kissed him and he kissed me back. which was nice i will not lie. and then he was like telling me how he wanted to date me but he was conflicted bc in a year hes going to go to college somewhere out of state and his family is moving when that happens and obvs it would be shitty to date me and then break up w/me in a year. and i was like yeah ok so think abkut it then i guess. BUT THEN.

hi its me again. so. MONTHS PASS. a lot of stuff happens which COULD be construed as flirting but im like @ myself: u are not objective the fact that he joked abt the two of u being in a rom com together doesnt mean anything. but apparently it DID bc we hung out together and we were Alone for the first time in like over a month (playing video games) and then suddenly (the drama the intrigue) hes like "youre really cute do you know that?" and im like i just DIED did u know that

OK HERE WE GO!!!!! so damn theres this boy? and i mean as boys go, he's pretty great but at the same time he's a boy. and ive liked him for months or whatever omg! and i told him i liked him a few months back and he was like "i will get back to u when im not burnt out from my last relationship but Its Definitely Not A No" and i was like k idk what "definiteky not no" even MEANS bc thats vague as hell but i can respect that. months pass. im running out of space im gonna send another ask
