I have been reflecting this week on Jesus Christ, the king of our hearts, Saviour of the world and also our Judge in coming days.
The world seems to be raging, with countries in turmoil and people in desperate situations; and with so many people questioning the power of God and doubting or even denying his sovereignty.
Be wise now therefore O kings, be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled only a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in him. [Psalm 2:10-12]
The Bible is clear that God is in control of everything, in heaven, on earth and in the waters below. He is the all-powerful Ruler, the Creator of all that exists and his power is far beyond our comprehension. We cannot fathom his greatness or compare it to anything on this earth or in the heavens above.
He warns the kings and rulers of this earth to take heed of Him, to serve him with fear and trembling and to abide by his righteous way. He has promised that those that put their trust in him will be blessed. Trust in God means total surrender of all of our hearts - life, mind, soul, body all serving God, in every act, in every word and in every life decision. Our reward for trust in God, is His blessing and ultimately, eternal life in heaven with the king of our hearts.
Which side will you be on when he comes to rule the earth? We will all be subjected to his ultimate Judgement and we will each be given the appropriate reward or penalty for our service. He is just and He will not overlook a sinful heart or a wasted life at the time of judgement.
The only hope that we have on that day will be Jesus Christ, residing in our hearts and that we have served God with our whole lives, hearts, minds and souls.
Because he comes to rule the earth. He will rule the peoples of the world with justice and righteousness. [Psalm 98:9]
