I believe you completely bc same! World of Final Fantasy really took me by surprise!!
honestly, i probably wouldn’t have been interested if my brother hadn’t bought it first, so i understand why it’s hard to sell to people. we played a bit of it together and i eventually ended up getting the switch version. no regrets!! i definitely recommend the dlc for anyone who hasn’t started the game yet, but it’s less valuable for people who’ve already beaten it imo.
anyway, extremely funny/witty/feelsy game and it deserves more recognition. people treated ffix like this back in the day, though -- everyone said it was too “ugly” or “childish looking” to give a shot, and now that it’s been rereleased everyone can see that it’s great!
