Have you heard of Shopkins Kinstructions? They are basically the equivalent of Shopkins Lego, and if you have little girls, you know that they love both of these things as much as they love ice cream.
Shopkins Kinstructions let you create your own Shopkins world, brick by brick. You can build a miniature Shopkins scene or a complete Shopville town centre. They’re lots of fun to build, but even more fun to mix and match and play with.

Some of the sets are quite elaborate, like the Shopkins Kinstructions Deluxe Food Court. This is a buildable two-level food court that comes with 8 buildable figures. If you weren’t able to get some of the earlier-season Shopkins, you can find them in these Kinstructions sets. This one comes with the following:
Season 1: Candi Cotton, Little Sipper, Soda Pops Season 2: Banana Splitty Season 3: Candy Apple, Suzie Sushi, Fiona Fries Exclusive: Pretz-elle I do find some of the bigger sets are more suited to older kids or younger kids with help from their parents. The sets are very detailed, but with detail, comes complexity.

The figures themselves are very true to form. If you compare them against a regular Shopkin, they will only be slightly bigger, but the detail is spot-on.
Working doors and hinges, oh my!
The newer sets that have come out recently have working doors and hinges. This cute locker set is perfect for keeping on a desk or shelf for easy play.
Shopkins Kinstructions Gym Fashion
This Slumber Fun set is one of my favourite sets. It is not too big, not too small, is amazingly detailed and the room is actually hinged so you can play with it different ways! The Shopkins Happy Places Shoppies are also the ideal size to play with these sets.

Kids’ verdict:
My girls loved these sets. They loved the bright colours, and the fact that the figures looked like actual Shopkins. My girls are 4 and 6, so some of the building was a bit difficult for them. But they really enjoyed playing with the sets after they were built.
This Tiki Hut playset was my oldest’s favourite. I helped her assemble it, and the roof was a bit tricky, but I have to admit the end result is fantastic.

This Ice Cream Shop was my youngest’s favourite. What’s not to love with all of the cute ice creams and the fun setting?

Parent’s verdict:
I thought these sets were fun... who knew building blocks was so therapeutic? Here are my thoughts:
PROS
The detail was very good. Some of the Kinstructions sets look very similar to the originals. If you can’t find the original or don’t want to pay as much, these are a great alternative.
The Shopkins figures very realistic. They even include extra pegs so you can include existing Shopkins into your play.
Sets are of decent quality. I think the newer sets like Slumber Fun and Gym Fashion are really well made -- these were easy to put together and aesthetically very nice.
CONS
Some of the sets are too complex for younger children. I think older kids might appreciate these more than the kindergarten set.
Some of the signs are made of paper vs. plastic -- I think using all plastic and stickers would be an improvement.
I really wish the bags of building blocks were separated in the order you use them in. Sometimes we would open all the bags just to do some of the first few steps.
Overall, I think these are a good addition to a Shopkins lover’s collection. They would also make a nice birthday, Easter or Christmas gift.
