I'm sending an ask because I'd rather not keep reblogging the same post, but about your response, normally I'd agree that it kinda would be a woman in the fridge trope, but unfortunately that's kinda what happened anyway. A woman -did- give up her life for the hero and the hero's greater destiny. And whether it be because she loved Greg or loved Steven or because she felt he would bridge the gap between gems and humans, ultimately she did give up her life for the plot of the show...

She did and I’m not making an excuse for that. Normally it would bother me, but SU is really good about having strong, developed female characters. Not only that, Rose is still extremely relevant to the plot after her death. The reason fridging tends to be so damn frustrating is that one of the few female characters is fridged to give a male character a tragic backstory and something to angst over, but SU dodges a lot of those issues so it doesn’t personally bother me (tho I can understand people being bothered by it).

I just get bothered by people saying Rose died for Greg when that doesn’t seem to be the case. I don’t think Rose would die just so Greg could have a little loin nugget, especially since she would have left Greg alone and grieving with a child. I don’t think any partner that honestly cared about their spouse would do that. I think it’s just a poor excuse for why Rose didn’t love Pearl (whether it be as much or more than Greg).

Btw, I hope it’s okay that I’m posting this publically. If not, just ask and I’ll delete it.

i don’t think that’s right, i mean people being bigoted is the product of a systemic problem in society...like you can feel good for directing torrential internet hate on one person but that doesn’t deal with the source of the problem, does it? let’s not pretend we’re not products of social conditioning, i’ve been having to unlearn a lot of harmful ideas i absorbed because of my upbringing. i grew up in a rather conservative environment and when i was a kid used to think same sex couples were morally wrong too. i’m still having to unlearn things in a lot of other areas and i highly doubt i am “unproblematic” at all.

 imo...it should really just be explaining why they’re wrong for saying such things, they shouldn’t be getting death threats or anything like that. but the internet in general does kind of have this mob mentality i guess, but really, does that solve things?

Psst, that post about heteronormativity in Korrasami was written by someone who's first language is not English and they got the terms confused.

oh i see! i’m wondering what exactly they mixed up though? 

tho I don’t really agree with the way they implied korrasami wasn’t really a same-sex relationship with the thing they said about asami = traditionally feminine handmaiden, korra = feudal lord…unless that was the part that got lost in translation too?

either way like if people know who they are, i don’t think they should be dogpiled for it…internet hate can be vicious…tbh this was quite funny really and people can learn. english can be a difficult language for non-native speakers and if they really expressed themselves completely wrongly, it’s really unfortunate.

Sanna, Tarnn, Veer - Annoyed

Sanna: Sanna gets really annoyed with some of her customers who think they know more than her and tell her how to do her job. She tries to not dwell on it too much.

Tarnn: Tarnn is really annoyed when people think he's stupid on account of his size. This usually happens during his security gigs which means he can't say anything without getting fired and so is forced to deal with it internally.

Veer: Lately it's been Duuk and her bullying of Kraami that is getting on his last nerve. He's hoping that the talk with Sarkk will fix things, but thinking about it still makes him annoyed.
