Indescribably beautiful work by @photoandkioto at the International Museum of Surgical Science here in Chicago. I said this to Kioto this morning, but I want to reiterate - the sensitivity with which she tends to the seam between the material history of photographic processes and the [oftentimes problematic] history of its relationship to medical science is so profound. Human breath instead becomes a language for measurement, floor tiles begin to reveal the fossils embedded within their stone, and blueprints vibrate with pressure of physical contact through doubling (historical and material). I’d say more, but it’s still sort of dreamy for me and I’d like to keep it that way. Up through July 11.
