Sorry I didn’t reply to this earlier! ;w; Thank you so very very much! It’s from a set of round badge like drawings I did a while ago (about 2 years I think?)! I’m too tired/drained to draw a new avatar from scratch, so most of the time I just use an older drawing I don’t mind to think of as “avatar” for the rest of my life whenever I see it.
i love the sans you drew in response to c-puff's post! he looks so soft! also would you mind if i printed him out and put him over my office desk? i like to joke that sans and i are fellow lazy grad students and your drawing is exactly how i imagine greeting him in the grad office :'D

Shit, Hettie, reading your thing about how your self-insert started is like looking in a mirror. I mean, obviously, we have our own preferences, but the love and joy and company - I feel it. I'm a grad student in rural fuckin' nowhere and none of the other grad students even come to campus. One day I imagined finding Sans in the grad student lounge, and then him starting to hang out in my office, and a whole friendship started. He and Pap are my best friends in this rural lonely town.
Yeah, it’s a comforting thing to imagine!
I spend a lot of time by myself. I don’t have family close by and although I have a few good friends, I don’t see them particularly often. Socialising is exhausting and I miss the feeling of having someone I can be alone-together with.
So the gentle thought of walking to the train station with Sans or having Papyrus stooped over me in a tube carriage is always nice.
Do you have any VHawke headcanons??? I love my silver tongued dwarf dad and his relationship with his dashing storybook protagonist!

Oooh, do tell me any angsty thoughts you have about Pearl!Steven. I, however, submit for your consideration, the following: Steven unlocking Pearl's powers for the first time when sooooo excitedly telling Rose all about the latest Crying Breakfast Friends episode and he gets so into that he just starts... projecting it from his gem. It's a very bittersweet moment for Rose.
1) that submission is hereby cancelled bc it made me sad. Absolutely brilliant, I love it so much. The pride and heartache that Rose would feel in that moment would probably be nearly overwhelming. They MADE THIS CHILD, her and Greg and Pearl. And he’s so like her, she’s always seeing little flashes of Pearl in him and Garnet assures her it’s no more frequent than his similarities to Greg or Rose herself, but all Rose can ever seem to see is PearlPearlPearl and she’s full of love and amazement at Steven and who he is and how he exists and what he can do, but she misses Pearl so much it feels like her gem has a flaw in it that will never go away.
2) as for other thoughts, it’s thus far a pretty nebulous AU in my head right now, more vague emotion than any actual concrete thoughts, but something I thought of in the car earlier is that Pearl probably convinced Rose to do it by researching human childrearing practices to try to find a reason Rose couldn’t be the one to do this, and she got into child psychology a bit, and ended up coming to Rose with stuff about the possible effects of the loss of a parent can have on human children, even if they can’t remember the parent or never knew them.
and really, in the end, Pearl’s always sacrificed herself for the love of Rose. It’s part of her programming, so to speak, but even having pushed past that, Rose opened the world for Pearl. She treated Pearl like a person, like an EQUAL. Listened to her, encouraged her, laughed with her. And so she set her own mission. For the love of Rose, she will go to every length to protect her, even from herself. She would, if she had to, look at herself in the mirror and, to steal something from an amazing bit of Sailor Moon commentfic @seananmcguire once wrote, say “for the love of Rose, burn.” And she would.
Even if it breaks Rose’s heart, she’s never found a way to stop Pearl yet. It seems inevitable, afterwards, that it would turn out this way in the end.

HONESTLY!! The Orville makes some missteps (some BIG missteps) but it TRIES more than Discovery does!!!
Oh absolutely, it can be problematic af, that trans episode had me cringing at times like oh, oh dear show BUT it also used its THIRD EPISODE to attempt to say something positive about trans rights and explore the topic which is a big deal - especially for a show that airs on Fox.
It also didn’t just forget about the topic after it was done (and often follows up on plotlines, because having episodes be episodic doesn’t preclude them from having ongoing storylines and character growth!) and showed that the event had a fucking impact on Bortus and Klyden’s relationship.
So yeah, it’s tried way harder than Discovery to explore modern social issues - and imo it succeeds and knocks it out of the park just as often as it flops and does something cringeworthy.
