Notice Me
Neteyam x Reader
Summary: All of your friends were pursuing or have already found their mate, but you on the other hand weren’t focused nor worrying about that and it made it extra hard for the poor guy who was trying so hard to gain your attention.
The day you walked into Neteyams life he was absolutely taken by you. You were introduced to the Sully family by your mother who was one of the finest weavers in your clan, she had weaved them a baby basket for their newborn Tuk’tirey. You followed her path being one of the best in your age group. Anything you touch was gold.
Although you thought your skills were useless up against your dream of becoming a fierce warrior, the eldest Sully thought otherwise. Over the years of knowing you, he would always come to you if his loincloth had been torn in flight, asking for a new armband, a new vest, or asking you to create decorative tapestry art for his family’s home. (They got sick of him filling up the family’s space with stuff he didn’t need.) With each request, he would bring tools and accessories he found while he was hunting. He would always sit and listen to you sing weaving songs along with your fellow weaving circle. Little did you know, the man was infatuated.
“Sa’nok (mother) I’ll be back, I’m going to collect some trinkets from the forest.” Your mother responded with ‘be careful’ with a kind smile.
You secured your satchel over your shoulder and tucked your knife into its sheath. You swung open the flap of your home to be greeted by and well known face.
“Kaltixì (hello)” you greeted with a smile that he returned even brighter.
“You ready?” You nodded following him to his Ikran, he grabbed your hand helping you on.
“Is that a new top?”
Your cheeks warmed at the thought of him noticing “Yes I finished it yesterday.”
“It is beautiful, the colors of the beads suit you well.”
•••
You two landed gracefully outside the forest. He helped you off and walked alongside you. You excitedly got started, finding trinkets to add to your future crafts. Seeds you can sit out to dry, feathers, multicolored pebbles, and picking a few colorful flowers neatly putting them in your pouch, and even with medicinal herbs that could come in handy.
While you look around you felt a sense of longing, you missed the forest more than anything. It saddened you your clan had to move to high ground in order to be safe now the only way you could get here is by being a passenger on someone else’s Ikran.
“I miss this” you blurted out as you ran your fingers along the beautiful glowing plants.
“As do i” he chimed in.
He watched you for a moment longer than needed, eyes following the way the forest light kissed your skin. Working up the courage to present you with something’s he’s been holding onto. Then he reached into the satchel at his side.
“I made something for you,” Neteyam said quietly.
You turned, surprised, as he held out a woven armband tight, clean craftsmanship, threaded with deep blues and warm golds. His colors.
“For me?” you asked, genuinely shocked.
He nodded, suddenly shy. “For protection. And… so you think of me when you wear it.”
Your smile was instant and sincere as you slid it onto your slender arm. “I will treasure it. Irayo (thanks), Neteyam.” You didn’t notice the way his chest lifted, the way his ears flicked back in satisfaction. In his mind, it was done. You were claimed.
Sadly you weren’t aware of any of it.
•••
Back at the Hallelujah Mountains, the weaving circle buzzed with quiet talk and laughter. You sat cross-legged among your friends, hands moving easily as you reinforced tool wraps and braided cord for hunters.
“You’ve been smiling all day,” Na’vani teased, nudging you. “Something I should know?”
Before you could answer, a shadow fell across your work. “Kaltixì,” came a warm voice.
You looked up to see K’u’thal, spear resting at his side. He was well known through out your clan, talented in many ways especially when it came to hunting. Many women pursued him as a potential mate.
His eyes glanced over your work curious rather than bold. “What are you making?”
You happily explained with a smile, holding up your work, and he smiled softly, impressed. Soon the two of you were talking easily, sharing stories that had Na’vani grinning to herself.
Not far away, Neteyam watched.
His jaw tightened.
•••
A few days later the Tlalim Clan arrived, the rainforest came alive with voices and trade. Everyone and their loved ones were back where they belonged, children running around with toys in the shape of animals mimicking sounds, laughter echoing through the forest, and stories being told about clans you have yet to meet. It felt good.
As you walked around with an unwavering smile on your face, Neteyam found you near the stream.
“Finally I have found you” a smile adorned his face as he pressed a small bundle into your hands, hair beads carved from traded bone and shell.
“I saw them and thought of you,” he said.
Your smile widened and hugged him without thinking. “They are beautiful! Irayo (Thank you).”
He watched you basically float away convinced you finally understood his intentions.
•••
Later, at the communal dinner, Na’vani toyed with your armband, eyes dancing in the firelight. “Let me guess… K’u’thal?”
You laughed softly. “No, Neteyam made this.”
Her smile turned knowing just as K’u’thal appeared at your side, setting a small woven charm into your hands. Before you could protest or even thank him he was gone again, swallowed by the crowd.
Na’vani sighed, shaking her head in amusement. “Eywa help you,” she muttered. “You’re leading on two of the finest warriors our age and don’t even know it.”
Shocked by her statement you barely had time to respond before a hand closed around your wrist.
Neteyam.
He didn’t speak as he guided you away from the fire, past the laughter and music, until the noise dulled and it was just the two of you beneath the glow of the mountains. Only then did he turn to you, jaw tight, eyes burning.
“Why are you accepting gifts from him?” he asked, voice low and strained.
You recoiled slightly, confused and hurt. “What do you mean it’s harmless”
“Harmless? This is far from harmless he knows i am pursuing you as a mate yet he continues to fight for your attention.” Your eyes bulge.
“I- what? I thought you were pursuing Veyt’ari. That is word around the village.”
He scoffed softly, stepping closer causing your heart to beat just a little faster. “I do not want Veyt’ari.” He tilts his head and his voice dropped. “I want you.”
The world went quiet as he leaned in. Your ears perk and tail sway in anticipation.
When he kissed you, it was hesitant at first like he was giving you one last chance to pull away. Instead, you kissed him back, breathless, stunned, hands curling into his chest. The kiss deepened, years of unspoken longing finally breaking free.
When you pulled apart, both of you were flushed, foreheads resting together.
“Oh,” you whispered.
Neteyam smiled, satisfied at last.
“Yes, paskalin… oh.” (Sweet Berry)

Extra
Neteyam didn’t realize how obvious he’d been until Lo’ak wouldn’t stop grinning at him across the fire.
“So,” his brother drawled, pulling meat off his skewer, “all it took was…what? Three years? Four?”
Neteyam shot him a warning look. “quiet.”
Kiri tilted her head, eyes glowing with amusement. “You know, most people say they’re courting someone. They don’t just… silently offer crafts and hope Eywa delivers the message.”
“She thought you were being nice?,” Tuk innocently chimed in, swinging her legs. “That’s kind of sad.”
Neteyam groaned, burying his face in his hands. Embarrassed that even his little sister caught on and she hasn’t even had the mating talk.
“I was clear.”
Lo’ak laughed outright. “Bro you literally watched another guy give her gifts and still said nothing , yeah that’s real clear”
Jake cleared his throat, lips twitching despite himself. “Alright that’s enough leave ‘em alone.”
“Son, next time…maybe use words.”
From across the clearing, you glanced over, confused by the sudden burst of laughter. Neteyam looked up just in time to see you smile at him.
Worth it.
Kiri leaned in, smirking. “Only took you years to get noticed.”
Neteyam didn’t argue, he was just happy now that he has you.

your lover shows you a human invention you'll cherish forever...! notes: yawne stands for beloved, and sevin stands for pretty. neteyam x reader
"neteyam,"
his glittering eyes raise from the basket he'd been weaving, hands quickly falling from the thin vines so he can redirect his attention towards your form instead. neteyam's palm reaches out to tug you gently onto the forest floor beside him, curling around your waist the moment you're in arms length
"you have my bag with you, sevin?" he questions with a confused smile, and you nod with a frown as you pull out the item inside that had brought upon more confusion and questions than you could count
"i was looking for a spare cloak in your hut but... i found this. what is this, neteyam?" you inquire, holding up the bulky piece of metal in your hands carefully as a smile blooms across neteyam's face. his golden eyes crinkle with barely restrained glee as he quickly takes the mystery object from you
"it is a human invention, love. they call it a camera." he tells you, reaching a teasing hand out to pinch your cheek as you smile with a soft giggle
"a camera? what does it do?" you question curiously, scooting closer to him as neteyam presses a button to power it on. he uses his other hand to wrap around your shoulder, pulling you into his side as your head naturally falls to rest against his shoulder
"let me show you."
after a few minutes, he holds the object up to his face and pointed your way
"alright, pretty girl. could you smile for me?" neteyam prompts, and you squint your eyes with a confused hum
"smile?" you murmur, playing with the grass beneath you idly as he nods
"look right into this circle for me while you do alright?" he says as he taps the circular glass, and you do as he says—neteyam would never mislead you, so you don't think twice before sending a beaming smile towards the foreign device in his hands. he laughs softly behind it, before a light shutters and you let out a small sound of surprise
moments later, it produces a small piece of paper. neteyam holds it carefully in his hands after pulling it out, eyes softening as his fingers trace over the image printed before handing it to you. you take it, eyes widening once you realize what it is
"it's—it's me!" you exclaim, holding it close to your face and squinting in awe. you'd only see your reflection in water most of the time, but this—this was a physical copy for you to look at!
"it is," neteyam says, scooting closer as he places a sudden kiss onto your cheek, right near the corner of your mouth
"what was that for?" you giggle, nose gently nudging against his own as he sighs happily
"just felt like kissing you." he murmurs, fingers curling around the object as he suddenly stands
"wait here." neteyam says, looking around before finding a low hanging vine and carefully propping the camera onto it and racing back towards you
"yawne! come here, my love, and smile big!"
he reaches you in a matter of seconds, wrapping his strong arms around you before smushing his cheek against your own and tilting it towards the propped up camera. you can't help the laugh that fizzles out of you from surprise, and the camera clicks at that exact moment. when you both look over the picture minutes later, neteyam deems it perfect.
date night!

Neteyam knows he’s walking into danger the moment he steps into the marui.
Not the kind of danger with arrows and smoke. The worse kind.
The kind with tiny arms, a stubborn chin, and a possessive little glare that looks exactly like his mother’s.
Your daughter is perched in your lap like a victorious queen, tail curled around your waist, small fingers gripping your neck. She’s half-asleep, warm and sticky from afternoon fruit, and she’s decided, apparently, that you belong to her.
Neteyam pauses just inside the entrance, watching you with a soft smile.
You look up and grin. “Hi.”
He lifts a hand. “Hi.”
Your daughter’s eyes crack open at the sound of his voice.
And then she locks onto him.
Neteyam takes one cautious step forward.
Her ears pin.
She tightens her hold around you like a vine.
You sigh, already amused. “Oh no.”
Neteyam whispers dramatically, “She has seen me.”
Your daughter points one accusing finger at him. “No.”
Neteyam stops. “No?”
“No.” She says it again, stronger. “No, Daddy.”
Neteyam blinks, glancing at you like, Are you hearing this?
You bite your lip to keep from laughing. “What are we saying no to, baby?”
Your daughter’s eyes narrow like she’s deeply offended you even asked. “No kiss.”
Neteyam’s eyebrows lift. “No kiss?”
She shakes her head, curls bouncing. “No. Mama mine.”
Neteyam’s mouth opens.
Closes.
He makes a sound like he’s trying not to laugh. “Mama… is yours?”
Your daughter nods decisively. “Yes.”
Neteyam puts a hand to his chest in exaggerated shock. “What about me?”
She stares at him like he’s clearly not understanding the rules of the universe. “You… daddy.”
Neteyam nods. “Yes.”
Your daughter gestures toward the far side of the marui with the authority of a clan leader. “Go.”
You choke on a laugh. “Oh my god.”
Neteyam looks personally attacked. “She is sending me away.”
You pat your daughter’s back gently. “Sweetheart, Daddy is allowed to be here.”
She glares. “No.”
Neteyam leans his head to the side, studying her like she’s a new creature he hasn’t catalogued yet. “Ma’ite,” he says carefully, “why no?”
Your daughter presses her cheek to your chest and mumbles, “Mama mine.”
Neteyam takes another step forward, slow and cautious, like approaching a skittish ikran.
Your daughter immediately throws both arms around your neck and shouts:
“NOOO!”
Neteyam freezes again.
You laugh helplessly. “Oh my,baby, it’s okay!”
Neteyam points at your daughter. “She is screaming.”
“She’s protecting me,” you say, teasing.
Neteyam narrows his eyes. “From me.”
Your daughter jabs a finger at him again. “No touch.”
Neteyam’s lips twitch. “No touch.”
She nods. “No.”
He looks at you, wounded. “She thinks I am a threat.”
You grin. “Well… you are pretty handsome. Maybe she’s worried.”
Neteyam’s face warms. “Y/N.”
Your daughter gasps like you’ve betrayed her. “No say his name!”
Neteyam’s eyes widen. “She said no say my name.”
You’re shaking with laughter now, shoulders trembling.
Neteyam points at you. “You are enjoying this.”
“I’m not enjoying it,” you lie, wiping at your eyes. “I’m suffering.”
Your daughter pats your cheek. “Mama sad?”
“No,” you manage, still giggling. “Mama happy.”
Your daughter nods seriously. “Good.”
Neteyam takes a slow breath, then straightens like a warrior preparing for battle.
“Okay,” he says. “We will negotiate.”
Your daughter squints. “No.”
Neteyam ignores that. He crouches down a few feet away, voice gentle. “Ma’ite. I am your father.”
She nods.
“And she is your mother.”
She nods again, satisfied.
Neteyam gestures between himself and you. “But… she is also my wife.”
Your daughter’s eyes go wide, like he just said the sky is green.
“No,” she says instantly.
Neteyam’s brows lift. “Yes.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No!”
Neteyam looks at you, pleading. “Tell her.”
You choke back laughter. “Baby, Daddy is right. I’m his wife.”
Your daughter turns slowly to stare at you like you’ve committed the greatest crime in history.
Then she whispers, devastated, “Mama… why?”
You gasp, laughing and melting at the same time. “Oh no,baby, I love you and Daddy.”
Your daughter clutches you tighter. “No Daddy.”
Neteyam puts a hand over his heart again. “This is pain.”
You grin. “You’re being rejected.”
Neteyam’s voice goes dramatic. “By my own child.”
Your daughter nods firmly. “Yes.”
Neteyam stares at her, then sits back on his heels. “Fine,” he says, like he’s making a huge sacrifice. “If I cannot kiss my wife…”
Your daughter watches suspiciously.
Neteyam continues, “Then I will kiss…”
He looks at your daughter.
Your daughter’s eyes narrow. “No.”
Neteyam leans forward slightly, voice warm. “You.”
Your daughter freezes.
You blink. “Oh?”
Neteyam smiles softly. “May I kiss you, ma’ite?”
Your daughter looks torn, like she wants affection, but also wants to maintain authority.
She glances at you, then back at Neteyam.
“…Small,” she decides.
Neteyam nods solemnly. “Small.”
He leans in carefully and kisses her forehead.
Your daughter’s face goes very still, like her brain is short-circuiting from the sweetness.
Then she smiles, huge, bright, and immediately goes back to glaring at him.
“Okay,” she says. “Now go.”
Neteyam’s jaw drops. “That did not work.”
You laugh. “You thought you could bribe her.”
Neteyam stands slowly, hands on his hips. “I thought she would remember I am lovable.”
Your daughter points again. “Go.”
Neteyam squints. “Where?”
She gestures vaguely. “Away.”
Neteyam looks like he’s about to argue, then Jake’s voice cuts in from outside, amused and loud.
“Neteyam! You in there getting bullied?”
Neteyam’s head whips toward the entrance. “Father!”
Jake steps in, grinning like he already knows everything. He takes one look at your daughter clinging to you like a barnacle and laughs.
“Ohhh,” Jake says, pointing. “I know that face.”
You raise an eyebrow. “You do?”
Jake nods sagely. “That’s the ‘This is my mom, don’t even breathe near her’ face.”
Neteyam throws his hands up. “She will not let me near my wife!”
Jake looks delighted. “Ha! Welcome to the club.”
Neteyam narrows his eyes. “You were not blocked from Mother.”
Jake pauses, then scratches his head. “Okay, maybe once or twice when you guys were little.”
Your daughter turns her glare on Jake, immediately suspicious of his existence.
Jake lifts both hands. “Whoa. Easy, small one. I’m not here for your mama.”
Your daughter studies him, then points at him too.
“Go,” she commands.
Jake blinks. “Me?”
“Yes,” she says, tiny and absolute. “Go.”
You make a strangled sound between laughter and shock. “Oh my god, she’s ordering Jake around too.”
Neteyam looks smug for half a second. “See? It is not only me.”
Jake crouches down, grinning. “Listen, kid. That’s my daughter-in-law you’re guarding. I respect the hustle.”
Your daughter’s eyes narrow. “Hush…le?”
Jake laughs. “Yeah. Your… protective vibes.”
Neteyam sighs. “Father, you are not helping.”
Jake sits back, still amused. “I am helping. I’m teaching you.” He points at your daughter. “You can’t out-stubborn a Sully.”
Neteyam looks affronted. “I am stubborn.”
Jake smirks. “Exactly. She got it from you.”
Neteyam glares. “She got it from her mother too.”
You gasp. “Excuse me?”
Neteyam turns to you with mock innocence. “You are stubborn.”
Your daughter nods vigorously. “Mama stubborn!”
You groan. “Traitors. Both of you.”
Jake chuckles. “Alright, alright. Here’s what you do.” He leans closer to Neteyam like he’s sharing top secret combat strategy. “You don’t go for the kiss. You go for the distraction.”
Neteyam frowns. “Distraction.”
Jake nods seriously. “Yup. Like a shiny shell. Or a snack.”
Neteyam’s eyebrows lift. “That is bribery.”
Jake shrugs. “Parenting is 80% bribery.”
Neteyam looks deeply offended by that statistic.
You laugh. “He’s not wrong.”
Neteyam straightens like he’s reclaiming dignity. “I will not bribe my child to kiss my wife.”
Your daughter gasps and clutches you tighter. “No kiss!”
Neteyam points at her. “See? She heard you.”
Jake stands, still laughing. “Fine. Then do it the hard way.”
Neteyam narrows his eyes. “The hard way.”
Jake nods. “You remind her who’s boss.”
Your daughter immediately glares again like she’s ready for war.
Neteyam takes a breath, then steps closer, calm, confident, gentle authority.
He looks at your daughter. “Ma’ite.”
She hugs you tighter.
Neteyam’s voice is firm, not loud. “You do not tell me to go away.”
Your daughter pouts. “But Mama,”
Neteyam interrupts gently. “Mama is safe.”
“But,”
Neteyam holds up one finger. “And you will share.”
Your daughter stares at him like he just cursed.
“Share?” she whispers, appalled.
Neteyam nods. “Yes.”
Your daughter looks at you, horrified. “Mama no share.”
You smooth her hair. “Baby… we share love. That means Daddy can kiss me, and you can still have Mama cuddles.”
Your daughter’s eyes dart between you and Neteyam, calculating.
Then she points at Neteyam’s face.
“No mouth,” she declares.
Neteyam blinks. “No mouth.”
She nods. “Cheek.”
Neteyam glances at you like, Is this a compromise?
You grin. “Take what you can get.”
Neteyam steps closer to you, slow enough not to trigger alarms, and leans in.
Your daughter watches with intense suspicion.
Neteyam kisses your cheek.
Soft. Quick. Like he’s testing a boundary.
Your daughter gasps, but she doesn’t scream.
She doesn’t shove him.
She just scowls.
“Again?” Neteyam asks you quietly, eyes sparkling.
Your daughter immediately raises a finger. “No.”
Neteyam laughs under his breath. “Okay, okay.”
Jake points at Neteyam like a proud coach. “Look at you. Surviving.”
Neteyam shoots him a glare. “Stop.”
Jake grins wider. “She’s got you wrapped around her little finger.”
Neteyam looks at your daughter, who is still clinging to you like a tiny guardian, and his stern face melts into soft warmth.
“…Yes,” he admits. “She does.”
Your daughter nods, satisfied. “Good.”
You laugh, leaning into Neteyam’s side. “So this is my life now? Being fought over?”
Neteyam kisses your temple carefully, eyes on your daughter. “It seems you are very valuable.”
Your daughter pats your cheek possessively. “Mama precious.”
Jake whistles. “Dang. You got a whole security detail.”
Neteyam sighs, but he’s smiling. “I only wanted to kiss my wife.”
Your daughter glares. “Cheek only.”
Neteyam nods solemnly. “Cheek only.”
Then he leans close to your daughter and whispers, dramatic, “But I will win one day.”
Your daughter’s eyes widen. “No!”
Neteyam grins. “Maybe.”
Your daughter squawks and buries her face in your neck, and you laugh so hard your sides hurt.
Jake claps Neteyam’s shoulder. “Good luck, son.”
Neteyam mutters, “I need it.”
And as you hold your tiny jealous guardian between you,Neteyam on one side, your daughter on the other, you realize something warm and ridiculous:
You’ve never been loved so loudly in your life.
mother/daughter/father/son
