"I just... I wanna kiss you 'Zuku." It slips out.
The both of them are stunned. Eijirou's mouth closes with a clack of his pointed teeth. Izuku's cheeks blush pink enough to rival Eijirou's dyed-hair. A blush spreads from Eijirou's collarbone past his cheeks and settling in the tips of his ears.
It's been heading this way for awhile, Izuku knows.
It'd started out small. It had been late nights spent training together when the both of them were to eager and had too much energy to sleep. It had been talks in their free time, when they relaxed in the lounge. When they're sweaty and tired, and trying wind down from training. And when they talk about everything and nothing, just simply content to talk to the other.
It grew to slaps on the back in congratulations. And cheers whenever the other surpasses their recent goal and limits. It's screams of "Mido-bro!" and "Kirishima!".
It grows kind looks, and earnest praise. It grows to reaffirmations, when the other doubts themselves. "Mido-bro" and "Midoriya" become "Izuku" and "'Zuku". Arms across the shoulders and back linger and mean more. Hands no longer go unheld. They find themselves prone to hugging the other, if only to touch. They find themselves more comfortable tucked into each other's side than not.
It all spins and spins and spins. Growing and changing until Izuku understands. Wants.
"Do you want to kiss me, Ei-chan? I would like it if you kissed me." Izuku says leaning closer towards Eijirou.
"Is that an invitation, 'Zuku?" He says as his face grows closer to Izuku's own, and his hand cups his cheek.
"It is. Now, kiss me."
He does.
Izuku's fingers play with the loose hair at the back of Eijirou's head, the others plant themselves on his bicep. Eijirou's hand busies itself with tracing circles into Izuku's cheek, while his other hand rests on his waist.
There aren't any of those "fireworks" he's read about.
But it feels right in a way he can't describe.
