WIP Ask Game Answers

Thank you @kirisbeltbuckle for the first ask for the WIP game!  I’m gonna assume this is for Touch, as it is, overall, one giant WIP.

7. What does your creative routine look like?

Usually it involves getting situated with snacky snacks (tonight’s choice is sunflower seeds and ice water cuz this bitch needs to hydrate).  Then I get my Dabi Touch Playlist going, usually picking something that’s chapter-specific.  Then I will go through and reread some of what I’ve written to reconnect with the vibe (and edit if the vibe feels off) so I can pick up where I left off.

25. If you could go back in time to when you first had the idea for this WIP, what would you tell yourself about it?

Yooo I think about this a lot, honestly.  I’d have told myself to wait on posting the first few chapters to make sure I knew where the story was going to go.  The heavier stuff didn’t come to life until later on. The original fic was SUPPOSED to be only a few parts and end in a (soft) sex scene.  So the vibe of the first 3 chapters are very different from the rest of the fic, and I wish I could go back and change it.

(This isn’t the first time this has happened btw... I wrote a huge multichapter Gundam Wing fanfic years ago, and basically went on hiatus and when i came back to it I rewrote the first 12 chapters because I didn’t like how I wrote it originally, and then eventually finished the fic at like 27 chapters.)

I swear you take a man from a game or show that I didn’t even care for and then after I read your stuff, heavenly orchestra music starts to play in the background when I see them. Then I’m madly in love with them and I’m staring into space like 😐😐 just thinking about your writing.

I was a Bakugo girly before but then you came by and like a drug dealer, you put me on your Dabi slow burn crack. I’m addicted forever and ever!🫶🫶🫶

Fun fact, I liked Bakugou too in the beginning! And when I first saw Dabi I was “look at this lame ass.” But then, the more I watched, the more I was like “OH NO HES HOT.” And THEN I saw hints of a tragic backstory?? I was done for, hook, line, and sinker.

5. How do you channel characters' voices and personalities?

Typically for characterization, I take what I'm given with canon, internalize the shit out of it, and then extrapolate/expand on it with my own headcanons in a way that makes sense for me (i.e., why the character is the way they are). And once I've got that down, then it makes it very easy for me to know their "voice" so to speak.

Also, I think good banter is such a part of who I am, it pops into my head all the time, so it comes very easily for writing (ironic cuz in real life, I can't banter nearly as well as I write... but the content is there in my brain!). I think my characters will always banter with each other; but the tone of it may differ slightly based on their personalities.

This reminded me of that part in Touch when Dabi yells at the reader for going overboard with their quirk on compress and they got overstimulated.

But also I love how Dabi was such a sweetheart later on and helped reader through a panic attack in the alley. 🥰🥰

BUT... YES. THIS. 100% THIS. Especially if the love interest in question is a quiet reserved type that tries to avoid physical contact/closeness. Someone who maybe is a wee bit touch starved. Who gets lightheaded just being within two feet of the apple of their eye....
