I mustache you a question… Did you know that Kirrha, the nearest village to this beach, once controlled access to Delphi from the Corinthian Gulf, and the citizens of Kirrha robbed pilgrims so often that a regional league devoted to the worship of Demeter and Apollo asked the Oracle what to do about Kirrha, and the Oracle told them to go to war. The war, named the First Sacred War, lasted 10 years. Kirrha was eventually defeated but not before they poisoned the city’s water supply with hellebore. Plants; always in the thick of it.
First Sacred War or Cirraean war was a war in the 6th century, and was fought between was fought between the Amphictyonic League of Delphi and the city of Kirrha. It was notable because it was one of the first instances of chemical warfare, with the poisoning of the water by hellebore.
