Kisame glanced down at the cat that was quite content to have a ball with the catnip it was toying around with before glancing back at the redhead who was the owner of said cat.

“Well, it got him to come our way, so you might as well keep it,” Kisame murmured, rubbing the back of his neck lightly. He had never seen the redhead before, and he wasn’t up much for conversation outside of tattooing, but now that the cat was safe and within his owner’s immediate vicinity, it was probably time to head back to the shop. “Be careful next time.”

 “Thank you.” Gaara had attempted an air of nonchalance - the old tabby was a stray, after all, and had only taken up residence in his apartment during a terrific thunderstorm three nights ago (and subsequently refused to leave, as cats are wont to do) - but the way he stroked the underside of its chin, and the way it leaned into his hand in turn, spoke otherwise.

 “Would you like to come in? I can make tea.”
