He SHOULDN’T, he knew that much. Waking up to your village being invaded however left an empty guild strangling all sense of personal well being. He wouldn’t be able to do much, not when his body refused to move in the way he was accustomed to, but he had to do SOMETHING. “I can manage, don’t worry about me, worry about the civilians.” If he had managed to somehow do something different; moved quicker maybe? Been smarter, was stronger, the list went on && on. He MIGHT have been able to warn the Hokage-sama, && they could have been better prepared.  But his Weakness had brought this own, his failure now stared him plainly in the face, it was much worse than the aces of his wounds.

They're locked in a spar of sorts. That eerie crow -- dark, a sheen that'd pale even those nights at mid-winter -- levels him a glare as it bellows and caws. The rec room echoes foully with it, and more than a meager air of dread comes to nip at his bones. Kakashi, settled at the far seat, sighs. How can he read Icha Icha with Aoba's squawking pet? "You know," he starts once his friend comes, "most people would settle with getting a cat."

Happy Birthday Konohamaru. I must be getting old. -hands him a wrapped box- It’s not much though.

“It’s fine Aoba-san!” He laughs loudly accepting the gift and bowing slightly. “Thanks!” He opens it up, his smile growing wider as he looks into it. “Wow, hey a new scarf, I really needed one, this is great!! And look, it’s got the Sarutobi clan symbol on it!”

Well, at least he was nice enough to be discreet in telling her she needs to sober the fuck up. Though there’s a table full of people and that’s very obviously a glass of water -- a glass that was previously empty because she dumped it on him.

Anko reaches for it. Even this far gone, Aoba still has the look of a really concerned uncle, and she’s inclined to listen.

“Fine.” She doesn’t look ashamed (not at all) as she takes a few sips from the glass and finally shuts the fuck up.

   A soft sigh would escape the medical nin’s lips contently, the warm, gentle breezes surrounding herself sending a sense of tranquility through her being. Sunlight loomed gracefully over the horizon, the sounds of many animals singing their songs and the essence of fresh water engulfing the air around her with each passing breeze--in this moment she is utterly too relaxed. During moments in her leisure time, she normally would come across this particular area, completely away from the village. A safe haven and arbitrary sanctuary where only her mind can be freed and escape the stresses of work. Because of the serenity the outdoors provided, it seemed to be the only entity in her life that kept her the slightest bit at peace, being cooped up in the hospital all day caused her more stress in this profession than she could have ever imagined. With bright greens glued onto the scenery before her, she’d begin to hum a tune to herself--content as ever; and at full peace.    

         She wouldn’t even mind if someone came along to enjoy this beautiful sunset with her.

“Gai-san, I know we don’t talk about these subjects often, but you—...” Aoba pause, thinking for a few moments, but then spoke. “You’re pretty flexible. Are you a switch?” His cheeks were just faintly colored this time, thankfully.

“It’s the love that matters, Aoba-san!”
