Contemplative day

Today is one of my beautiful friend's birthdays. Last year I sent her a note on Facebook wishing her a wonderful day. I hadn't spoken with her in several months, but we always picked up where we left off. Except last year. I instead received a note from her partner letting me know that she had passed away. It was not unexpected, she'd been ill for a long time, but at the same time it was still shocking. I had been in the middle of moving. I remember sitting in the middle of an empty living room thinking about my dear friend, and how short life can be. A year later, and my life is quite different. I've come a long way and things are good. One of the most important things she taught me was to make the best of what you have, and live every minute. Thank you Kishma. I love you. Wherever you are, I hope you know that I'm sending you good thoughts.
