Kit Major shares new single ‘Solo Disco’
Los Angeles-based hyperpop queen Kit Major is back with a new single, and it is an instant hit. Taking inspiration from pop icons Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, and Rina Sawayama, ‘Solo Disco’ is a song about celebrating herself and feeling liberated in her independence. Featuring infectious synth pop hooks and pulsing drum machine beats, ‘Solo Disco’ is a song that will live rent-free in your head.
Kit Major shares the story behind the song: "This song is for the lonely, the independent bitches and those learning to find comfortability in feeling uncomfortable. Solo Disco is where you go when you have no one else, it’s not just about romantic relationships, but it’s a fuck you, i’m fine to those who don’t believe in you or see your true value. I love this song so much because I've lived so much of my life through the eyes of other people and how they see me- am I a good person, am I a loving partner, am I worth it? That’s a tiring place to be. Honestly, a life changing experience for me was my first time at a music festival- I went to Lollapalooza in 2010 to see Gaga and Green Day. I wanted this song to reflect the energy and freedom I felt in that explosive short time. Not to sound so lame, but the biggest thing for me about this song was, does it make you want to dance? Does it make you feel good? Does it feel like sunset on a Friday night before the concert?"

Kit Major shares new single ‘Party Street’
Let your hair down and put on your dancing shoes because Los Angeles-based hyperpop icon Kit Major is back with her latest single ‘Party Street’, a liberating dance banger with a Prince 80's club groove. Combining funky guitar and disco pop beats, the 25-year-old artist takes notes from Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Lady Gaga for a confidence-boosting modern pop anthem perfect for blasting with the windows rolled down.
On the track, Kit shares: “This song is deliciously cool and sexy for being about being depressed and lonely. I wrote this song when I was 23 scared of what getting older would look like. Fast forward to 25 through a pandemic, a breakup, and multiple losses later, I’m finding that life is still worth dancing to. I’ve often felt like I’ve been waiting for when I would “live my life” and be more outgoing and extroverted. That frustration of waiting and watching myself led me down to Party Street, where I’m able to be and do whatever I want, and this song is inviting people to follow me in that pursuit. This song is about freeing yourself, your mind, your sexuality, and letting go of the things that hold you back in life. Dance in traffic with your best friends, let your hair down, and drive to Party Street.”

While we’re all familiar with pop-rock – the guitar-driven, 3-minute jams from bands like Green Day and Weezer – there’s a movement in the music scene that might as well be branded rock-pop, where driving rhythms and propulsive synths bridge the gap between the genres. Kit Major is one such artist, and her songs are […]
