The Roadster was designed by Paul Moorhouse, the first chassis was produced in 1979 built around its own (rather than donor) box section chassis with roll over bar integrated into the windscreen frame. The body is a combination of aluminium for the flat panels and fibreglass for the moulded sections including radiator cowl, wings and rear bodywork.. The early models required a Triumph based donor vehicle and later models Morris Marina's. The Berlinetta was launched in 1983 version using Ford Cortina Mk III or IV parts, later the Sierra based Berlinettas as a 2+2 coupé. , The Belinetta also had wind-up windows, a lockable boot and a hardtop option. A touring car rather than a sports car, sales of the car were fewer than the Roadster, mainly due to the more limited market for such a car. In 1993 the Roadster and Berlinetta were sold to YKC engineering while Marlin continued with the Cabrio and introduced the Hunter, Sportster and 5EXi to the model range. The Cabrio and Hunter had an almost identical appearance to the earlier models, The 1991 Cabrio was an updated Roadster based on Ford Sierra parts, while the Hunter was a complete, factory-built car. The Sportster was the last in the Roadster line, completely updated with a BMW E36 six cylinder engine as standard. It was available as a kit or fully built.. It has been in production since 1982 when it was introduced by the Lomax Motor Co of Willoughton, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. In the late 1980s the production was transferred to the Mumford Motor Co. of Gigg Mill, Nailsworth, Gloucestershire, where it was produced until the early 1990s. From then it was built at Cradley Motor Works in Cradley Heath, West Midlands. By 2009 the car was being made by Cradley Motor Works of St Leonard's-on-Sea, East Sussex. It was designed by Nigel Whall. The car consists of a fibreglass body mounted on an un-modified Citroën 2CV or Dyane floorpan. Later a steel tube chassis was introduced. A 4 wheeled version of the Lomax was also available, called 224. The naming convention was the number of seats, the number of cylinders and the number of wheels. Fergus Mosquito Volante (1972) UIJ 233 by Robert Knight Via Flickr: Fergus Mosquito (1986-87) Engine 1798cc S4 OHV (Morris Marina) Production 7 Registration Number UIJ 233 (County Down) FERGUS ALBUM www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/albums/72157647033461240/ The Fergus Mosquito kit car was inspired by the Aston Martin Ulster 0f 1935, The donor mechanics are from the Morris Marina and was very well executed, and rides on proper 18in wire wheels and dummy front leaf springs (Marina torsion bars were used in fact). Cars were supplied mainly in kit form, with a steel tube chassis and bodywork in fibreglass and aluminium. Like many of the kit car manufacturers Fergus was to change ownership and names. 1986-87 as Fergus Engineering, Kingsbridge, Devon. 1991-92 A.I.M.S. Kingsbridge, Devon. 1992 on Products of Distinction, Redditch, Worcester. With a paddock full of period Aston Martins, this was an interesting and welcome find. This one was based on a 1972 Morris Marina 1800.

448 NG TA Tourer c.(1982) RMG 145 L by Robert Knight Via Flickr: NG TA Roadster Engine 1798cc S4 BMC B Series Registration RMG 145 L (Greater London) NG CARS ALBUM www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/albums/72157626752177544/ NG Cars was founded in 1979 by vehicle and aeronautical design engineer Nick Green and based in New Milton, Hants .Over a period of nine months he developed his first NG model TA which despite it name was more similar in appearance to the 1930s Aston Martin International. The sales success of the TA led to the development of the TC a V8 engined car that appeared in 1981. In 1983 the 2+2 TD appeared in response to customer demand for a more practical NG, and, later in the same year it appeared with the elegant flowing wings that created the TF. Nick Green left the project to return to Southampton University, passing over the reigns to NG owner Peter Fellowes, who had formed the TA Motor Company in Milton Keynes. He then moved the operation to Rotherham where the cars remained NGs but were sold under the banner of Pastiche Cars. These cars were designed for MG, Marina or Sierra based components. The NG marque briefly passed to GTM before being bought by engineer John Hoyle of Epsom in 1994. The TA became obsolete and the TF, TD and TC were the focus of constant development in preparation for the Single Vehicle Approval regulations of 1st July 1998. John Hoyle retired in December 2000 selling NG to he Imex Group International Limited of New Milton and in 2002 was sold to Nigel Brooks of Findhorn cars who continued trading until 2012.
