B I O G R A P H Y 

Kit was born in Cleveland Ohio. Her parents were great parents, her mom was a school teacher and her father was a well known Radio DJ with a popular talk show. 

When Kit was six years old her father was offered a job to work at a station in New York City. So they packed up and moved all their things to the city that never sleeps! It was certainly an adjustment, but Kit had always been an adaptable girl, and sure enough she made things work here too. 

During spring break every year the family would drive back to Cleveland to visit with Kit’s mother’s family. When Kit was fourteen years old, on one of these visits, Kit and her mother were run off the road by a drunk driver. Kit’s mother passed away later at the hospital, and Kit had sustained injuries as well. 

Losing her mom this was was very hard on Kit. She tried to remind herself that knowing her mom, she would have wanted Kit to keep going, and live her life to the fullest, but it is hard to always remind yourself of this when you lose a parent so suddenly. 

Kit’s father took things even worse. He fell into a deep depression. To say he had lost his way was an understatement. He started drinking, missing work, and all and all not being there for his daughter. 

Kit doesn’t like to discuss this period of her life, especially when it comes to her father, he was grieving, and she is thankful he had so many people who loved and supported them. His boss of several years checked him into rehab and moved Kit in with his family while her father was seeking treatment. 

He even started showing her the ropes, and promised that when she was in High School she could intern at the station. Which sure enough she ended up doing. 

Her father got clean, and along with DJ decided to open up a community center for artist. They host open mics and offer studio space as well. It became her fathers passion project and Kit couldn’t be more proud. 

In her own life Kit is very independent, sometimes to the point of coming across as reclusive. She never really dated people until she was in her 20s and even now she doesn’t seek out attachments. She has goals she wants to achieve and doesn’t want commitments or needy propositions tying her down. If someone doesn’t accept that she tends to lose interest. 

For now she is living her life, in her studio apartment, spending a few nights a week hosting a light night show and also saving up to maybe go back to school someday.

Kit is bubbly and charismatic. She loves people and getting to know people. She is a good and loyal friend to those who want to be her friend. She can be a bit of a flirt at times but can also read a room. She never wants to make people uncomfortable. She is a warm person, even though in her romantic life she can keep people at arms length. Patience is required with her, and is also appreciated.

Who is James Liu?

James Liu is the alias Kit has been using to sneak into Brook's. They are reported to be a cousin on Kit Thorne's mother's side, recently arrived in the Ton from the continent.

How well known is James around the Ton?

James has spent a number of nights at Brook's now, and may have met characters through their time there. Outside of this they are a new face with few connections.

ABOUT

The name - it is everything to Kit. The knowledge of who they are and where they belong. Her earliest memory was sitting in front of the family tapestry, the family tree which covered an entire wall. It was her father's pride and joy, and as she traced the lines which led to her she noticed the name beside her mother. Liu. It was a name tied to a culture she was proud of, a name tied to the family she was closest to.

They could not understand their mother's answer when asked about that name. How could anyone agree to give it up. To change a name they had carried for most of their life.

She quickly forgot about it, as children so often do. A question that could not be answered lost as more questions emerged. Perhaps growing closer to her father helped. When it became clear the Rowley's would not have a son he imparted on Kit what they would need to know as his successor. They began to see themself as the future head of the household.

The Rowleys were not rich. They were gentility and had the right connection, but the day her father's will was read was a quick affair. Enough investments to ensure Kit and her mother would be comfortable.

Kit craved more. She wanted to be truly a part of the Ton, to have the connections and influence she saw around her.

Her mother's marriage was the opportunity she craved. She loved her adopted father, and with the Thorne heir away she once again began to see herself as his natural successor.

Kit can't help but think back to that child in front of the tapestry. She has changed her name, just like her mother once did, and she's not sure how she feels about it. She is happy to be a Thorne, but she still feels like an imposter, not quite able to break through.

She certainly doesn't wish to lose another name, and the idea of marriage is becoming less and less appealing to her.

Now her brother-in-law is back, and she can't help but see it as a threat. Her place in the world has been constantly disrupted, and she is eager to finally cement it.
