I think what a lot of people don't understand about yoi is why it wasn't like, explicitly stated that viktor and yuuri are in a relationship aka they never kissed clearly on camera. However you also have to consider that this was a show made in Japan, and most of the mainstream media there is highly censored if it has to do with lgbt people. Honestly it's kind of a miracle that we've gotten this much out of a mainstream anime, I mean they literally exchanged rings in a church for gods sake
