Kitex garments reported spectacular results

Kitex garments, third largest infant wear manufacturer, once again reported spectacular results in the fourth quarter of FY 2014-15. This textile company reported 20% increase in sales and 98% rise in net profit in the fourth quarter. Kitex announced 58.6% increase in EBITDA. Finance costs increased to 5 crore from 3.2 crore.

KITEX and the Emerging Kerala saga

We at The Kerala Inquirer, have written extensively (here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here) on why we think Emerging Kerala needs to be more about policy and less about announcement and fanfare. 

The recent move by KITEX to not expand in Kerala has vindicated our stand.

Sabu Jacob, Kitex group managing director, said he remained firm in his resolve that his future projects would not come up in the state. “I have been tortured no end for the past five months. It was a conspiracy against Kitex, where the Kizhakkambalam panchayat, the police department and the local PCB wing all acted in tandem. I am saying this with utmost conviction. Kitex group is not going to make any more major investments in Kerala, including the immediate plans for a Rs 262-crore expansion

 I could easily have played spoilsport and made all this public during the ‘Emerging Kerala’ summit last month but chose not to besmirch the image of the state
