“You Always Start from Scratch” is Tony’s pov for the events of TIW, wherein Peter gives Tony the most thoughtful Father’s Day gift imaginable. 

It's Father's Day tomorrow, and Tony doesn't know.

He doesn't know what he expects to get out of the day, he doesn't know what to do with the ghost that seems to be shadowing him this time of year, and most especially he doesn't know how Peter fits into all this.

Peter, as usual, makes everything a little clearer without meaning to.

so I'm ridiculously behind on answering things, but it's almost Friday again!

Favorite color: It is new, just for tonight, dark purple patterned with tiny green and yellow triangles.

Favorite food: Which is why he’s decently surprised when half an hour after he texts TK and asks if he’s hungry for tacos, he’s being pushed up against his own front door.

Favorite emotion: He grins at that, this wide, automatic smile that fills his entire face with joy.

Favorite time of day: The exit for I-10 sneaks up on him, but there’s little enough traffic at 1 in the morning that he doesn't have a problem drifting across three lanes of traffic to make it to the ramp.

Favorite word: It’s almost 2 a.m., and the quiet cacophony is exactly the sort of noise that could lull someone into slumber.

Hm.. this is a tough one..but I'll find some!!

Favorite word?

"Goodnight bambino." He mumbled, pressing a small kiss to the boy's hair as they soon both drifted off to sleep.

Now we know I mostly quote from this fic, being as it is my first contribution for the Irondad fandom. It was a self indulgence fic that I was wanting to post, and one of my favorite words to include was bambino! I absolutely love the word and when it comes from the trope of Italian Tony I just can't help myself!

Favorite emotion?

"Oh, il mio cuore.." The man easily wraps his arms tightly around the boy, pulling him closer into his lap and tugging the blanket higher up over his shoulder, as if to hide him from the world.

This little tidbit from this fic here was a prime example of the pure parental love and protective nature Tony feels for Peter. He comforts him after a heartbreak and wraps him in his arms, similar to being a shield from the world that hurt his boy. I am normally a sucker for these types of moments in fics, and I couldn't help myself!

Happy FFWF! When you come up with an idea, does it come with all of the characters you want involved, or do you kind of figure out what characters you want to write about as the idea forms? How do you go about deciding what characters to include?

happy ffwf!! this is an AMAZING question because for me, it's kind of both. usually, yes, it requires me to do some brainstorming before i figure out which characters i want to write about in a fic, especially if the story is an idea that just Spontaneously Appeared in my head. the main exceptions are 1) if im writing a character study/exploration (bc my primary focus is on that main character and oftentimes interactions with others are a natural byproduct of that) and 2) if im writing a ship week prompt (because i tend to focus on whatever ship is at hand, lol). outside of those two exceptions, though, the main way i decide what characters to include is essentially to run through versions of the story in my head and remind myself that is a-okay to change parts of my outline as i write!

Happy FFWF! Tell us about your "behind-the-scenes" for writing. If we were watching you write, what kinds of things would we see?

okay, first thing, thanks for the ask! second, I'm going to try and keep this short, because if I don't, it might end up an ungodly length, and — yeah.

well, you'd see me on my phone, 98% of the time. on my bed, leaning into some pillows propped against the frame, and absolutely no one else in the room. I think I enjoy writing most when it's just me, because I have this weird habit of needing to try some of the things out, like, say one of them says something that doesn't sound very dialogue-y and I proceed to say it fourteen times trying to figure out why and how I can replace it, xD also when it's just me, I kinda read what I'm typing under my breath as I'm typing it, y'know? (does anyone else do this — cause I just realized I'm even doing it right now, ahahaha, and it might be one of those weird things I never notice cause uhhhhh, self awareness who?)

also, I usually write in a bright room (not exactly natural light though, I'm SORRY but the sun's way too hot around these parts, I hate doing stuff outside unless I absolutely have to, so I'll just have all the lights in my room turned on) with the ac on, no music (don't need any more distractions than what my brain already provides me with, trust me) and an annoying tendency to want to flee to tumblr every time I hit a hurdle.

sometimes I just give in though, and end up discussing my second sentence crisis at length with someone awesome on here — y'all know who you are, so like. shoutout moment for tolerating me? ✊🏼

last of all, and I hate this part, my thumbs often end up randomly sweaty (moist is a better word, but I'm not going to use it, sorry) in the middle of typing long, long stuffs on my phone, so you'd also see me taking mini breaks to wash my hands and/or aggressively wipe them?

Happy FFWF! What's your favorite medium to write on (laptop, notebook, phone, etc)? Do you use different mediums for different things?

Happy FFWF! At the moment I think my favorite medium to write on is a laptop, especially for longer stories. However, if I have a quick idea or need a quick summary I like my phone. I said this earlier but I like the key sounds on laptops, but also I type faster on my laptop so if (read: most of the time) my brain is going super fast I get frustrated that I can’t type faster on my phone. One other thing if I’m doing specific planning for a story (like important dates or character details or brief timeline) I usually write that in a notebook so I can have it next to me and not have to switch tabs. And if someone were to go through my school notes they may or may not find random scattered ideas I got during lecture.

Can you share more about Tony bails Ned out? That sounds interesting! :D

Someone else asked this just before you. I guess it is an interesting title. Lol. So basically Ned gets arrested for some spiderman hacking related things, and instead of his parents bailing him out, it's Tony, which shocks Ned. It's going to be a very Ned centric piece. It originally was given to me as a prompt for "Tony bails Ned out of a problem" but I decided to take that literally. I don't have much written yet otherwise I would share some. But hopefully soon I'll get time to work on it.
