so the basic problem that radfems have, is that their politics are right-wing and reactionary, despite whatever airs of progressivism they put on. they find themselves drawn to the right wing, because Fox News and The Post-Millennial affirm their deep-seated hatred for trans women (which is the true basis of their entire project, not any kind of positive vision for women). and i have seen them repeatedly formulate this exact justification when people point out that they're platforming Andy Ngo or whoever (as kittyit recently did): "well, the left is just as misogynistic as the right! it's all garbage! so what's the difference!"
the difference is that the right wing publishes more content that resonates with you, obviously. the right wing publishes all the salacious, poorly-researched, speculative stories of trans women predators that you love so dear. which is why you gravitate toward it! it's why so many radfems have allied with the evangelical religious right, going all the way back to dworkin and raymond.
the evangelical christian right sees radical feminism as a natural ally, and they're right to. because the overriding concern for radfems is the elimination of trans people, and they are happy to sacrifice every other feminist cause (including abortion access) in the name of that goal.
even the supposed good ones, like kittyit, still basically believe what the right wing believes about trans people ("i'm not saying the Andy Ngo article in the NY Post is inaccurate..." of course you're not lol). and it's laudable that she, at least, has made a firm commitment not to ally herself with right wing homophobes and misogynists. i just wish she was better at convincing her sisters to follow suit.
but that's the basic problem, isn't it?
