this a good time to properly introduce jason's parents! charles and beatrice meyer. charles was a renowned engineer, while beatrice was a stay at home mom. their marriage was nothing but the worst from the beginning. charles was an angry man, and could never attach himself to anything but his own work. beatrice was an empathetic, and considerate woman to start, but her spirit was drained after jason's birth, and the continuous abuse from charles. after a while, the only thing they had in common was neglecting their son.
charles hated jason at a young age, and so he didn't care for amelia, either. paying attention to jason would mean paying attention to his failures. charles finds it difficult to look at him, let alone acknowledge his declining social life. charles may be put off by the fact jason's only friend is a son, but honestly—charles never expected much from him. if anything, charles expected amelia to drop that kid.
beatrice would have dates with amelia's mom! little tea times in their garden where amelia n jason would play together while the two moms chatted. in coming years, beatrice lost energy to leave her house anymore. so the exchanges between them lessened. beatrice was eternally grateful for amelia. in fact, she thanked amelia long after jason went missing—much to amelia's guilt. beatrice had never understood her own son. she held onto the belief that amelia was always there for him when she couldn't be. it's not true, but beatrice believed so.

so first of all, they don't exactly have a favourite thing about each other. this is a cop-out answer, i know!!! but the two of them are so spontaneous that they can't just have one defining trait that drew them to each other.
however! jason appreciates how candy pop helped him come out (literally) of his shell. he's able to be his most authentic self around candy pop. no matter how rotten or cruel jason behaved, candy pop refused to leave him. no one's ever wanted to stay with jason after learning about his true colours. what first drew jason to candy pop was his whimsy. generally, candy pop, as a genyr, has an enchanting aura. there's nothing jason can do about that.
on candy pop's end, he was initially attracted to jason's controlling and egocentric behaviour. his negativity. candy pop loved how easy it was to provoke jason. he was an easy target for whacky hijinks. it's not like jason could do anything against candy pop either. candy pop could overpower jason in every way, and that's what was so fun about it. he could torment this evil man as much as he wanted. but as they grew closer, candy pop became aware of jason's vulnerability, and thus began to seek out more from him.
i'd put cooking as a high favourite of theirs. mostly because i have a headcanon where they start a cookbook together... just a compilation of recipes either one of them finds interesting so they can expand their tastes together (jason used to be a picky eater, and candy pop can't cook for shit). unfortunately, the recipe book consists of made up recipes on candy pop's part. only jason finds actual recipes. other than cooking, they enjoy arts and crafts, bathing together, dancing, tea-times, frolicking in meadows, etc etc.
when they were friends and they weren't arguing about stupid shit, yeah i'd say they were sweet to each other. physically affectionate too, whether they were aware of it or not. and when they were "rivals", there were few moments where the two of them would be nice to one another. that's how they evolved into friends of course. (little things like offering gifts to each other, small talk, cleaning up after each other, just tiny gestures.)
there's three answers for this! when they first begin to date, candy pop still has his room at the mansion, but sleeps over at jason's flat sometimes. eventually, jason finds out candy pop still kept his room. being as possessive as he is, jason asks candy pop what he could possibly need another room for. candy pop ends up giving up his bedroom at the mansion, and moving in with jason. you could say they evolve from a fresh couple to a bickering one.
jason is almost always in candy pop's space. candy pop moving in is the start of jason keeping him sheltered (jason doesn't want candy pop to leave and interact with others so jason comes up with excuses for the two of them to stay in and do coupley things together. when candy pop leaves for hunts, jason's anxiety worsens. if candy pop doesn't return home when he's supposed to, jason starts thinking the worst, and disagreements ensue.)
in the fankid au, they move into a house to make more room for lilac/corpse and the toys (liquorice, red mouse, mr bunny, mr glutton). this is further into the future, so jason's manipulation isn't a huge problem anymore! they do share a bedroom, and sometimes jason will get jealous of candy pop hanging out with their daughter instead of him, but that's all. this is their PRIME married couple era.
in your eyes, in what would jason display misogynistic behaviour? bar from the fact hes ancient, but seeing as though he's so adamant on having a modern mindset does he not acknowledge his behaviour at all? how does this affect his relationship with women 😮
1. jason's misogyny is never obvious. it's more internal than external, and built up due to the ideals of the victorian times and his personal experiences with women. jason is respectful and considerate toward women, however he holds them to a lower status, thus instigating a power imbalance between him and the women in his life.
you will also see his misogyny in play with the objectification of his victims—and it's not the hollywood type of objectification where he'd sexualise women, because he doesn't care for that—it's seeing them as a replacement for amelia. (amelia being another woman who jason didn't care for on a deeper level, only being possessive of her because she provided what he thought was a "balance" in his life.)
then there's his mother—he considered her to be weak over time. as his father's power in the household grew, she settled in the background like, in jason's eyes, a damsel in distress. she'd never do anything to protect jason from her husband going forward, which did a bit to fuel jason's distaste.
2. sometimes. though he tends to think he's in the right because he always thinks the women, or well, his victims, have wronged him. jason is polite toward women that aren't his victims, actually. being friendly with them is another way to improve his reputation.
3. he's more kind towards women than men, pretty much giving them special treatment. it feels like an obligation for jason to be well-mannered. also jason wants to find love with a woman—one who meets his expectations at least—because again, he needs another amelia (not that amelia and jason ever dated because amelia hated him and also she's a lesbian and jason's just delusional).
BUT YEAH THAT'S ALL. MOST OF JASON'S MISOGYNY COMES TO PLAY INTERNALLY AND JUST... HOW HE VIEWS HIS VICTIMS. the patriarchy is real i fear
also he's not that adamant on having a modern mindset. if anything, he's not used to modern times at all... but that's possibly for a future post LOL
the way jason is an elitist despite being disowned and living off of pennies he got from amelia’s family will never not be funny to me. he had to get used to living in a small flat and actually GOING OUT HIMSELF to get an ounce of groceries to cook on a stove that hardly works. his hatred for that time is definitely why he looks down on poor people

it's insane how he has one of the most perfect set ups for an internalised homophobia and queer coming of age story because he's just a random toymaker. but jason was born in the victorian times when queerness in general was outlawed. he was literally ridiculed for it, abused and bullied just because he was "weird" and couldn't fulfill the role of the man of the house. he grows up to fit into a traditionally feminine role in the sense that he enjoys taking care of himself, doing makeup, sewing, knitting, cleaning, etc. but again that's not something he's exactly ALLOWED to be. being criticised for his overall feminity is a huge reason as to why he's misogynistic in the first place. the views from his society carry over to present day, and combine that with him wanting control over people—well, that all just adds to him looking down upon women and seeing them as inferior to him, whether subconsciously or not. and yet he's always defending women, because he isn't openly sexist!
and then there's the added heteronormativity and something i find important is the fact he grew up to see progressive LGBT movements. victorian era? yeah homophobia everywhere. but jason gets out of the underrealm and there's suddenly... rallies being hosted, people actively fighting for gay rights. and jason is sooo not used to this but ykw why does he even care? he doesn't care. it doesn't matter to him. there's still some people who look at him oddly for the "eccentric" way he dresses and does his makeup. maybe the flamboyance in how he talks but. then he starts seeing more and more people who aren't afraid to express themselves and it's like. what the fuck. what changed. maybe in a way, in present day, he sort of hates the way people aren't bullied for their identities. because he's still bitter about how HE was assaulted in the past for it.
he's still poked fun at for it but it's nothing compared to his childhood and all the shit his family said to him. including the backhanded comments from his mother.
i can definitely see jason being disgusted, or moreso upset with himself, at times BECAUSE he doesn't fit into the societal standard set for him. the past is sewn too intricately for it to be ripped completely. jason loves himself and his style, but the internalised hatred is still there. however, if he wanted to be more traditionally masculine, there's the added fact that he looks TOO MUCH like his abusive father. so. jason's screwed either way LMFAOOO
I actually love that color weaves are a thing and wish it was even more detailed thing. Like yes I get that blue is water weaves, red is fire, blah blah blah. But like an unique color for a specific character for general weaves???? Yes please
