things that bleed by @artistfingers, @dp-belongs-in-a-hoodie, and yours truly
"Danny looks over his shoulder and his throat closes up.
There’s another suited agent on the street, visible through the windows at the end of their current row of shelves. She’s flipping through a notepad, questioning someone. The beady red eye of an ecto-meter stares at him from her belt. So does an ecto-gun.
On the opposite side of the street, a white van rolls to stop.
If he’d run out the door, it would’ve been over right then and there.
He gets nudged again. Andes is moving towards a door marked ‘EMPLOYEES ONLY’. Danny starts to follow. Hope wells up in him—neither of the agents had spotted them yet, and they’ve almost disappeared out the back—
Tendrils of hot poison squeeze his core. His left arm spasms and he hisses through his teeth.
Through the window, the red eye starts blinking."
do you like found family? horror? action-adventure? did you read something’s wrong with danny fenton and froth at the mouth? would you be up for a beautifully written and illustrated labor of love, complete with a custom AO3 workskin because we are just that rabid?
after nearly a year of frothing at the mouth, fin, kei, and i proudly present the first chapter of things that bleed, an insane(ly fun) alex rider, danny phantom, and SCP foundation three-way crossover fic. literally everybody who’s read it, including friends and family who have not dannied a phantom or alexed a rider in their life, has enjoyed it, so please give this fic a chance 👉👈 it’s even illustrated by fin and i!
we've also got a blog @thingsthatbleedfic where we'll be crossposting our art stuff, answering asks. i hope you give this story a shot!
this fic is a sequel that i want to write for @faedemon‘s fic “would she be that cruel?” (link here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/23428699/chapters/56153341) thank you charlie for having a huge and textured big brain
here’s the snippet under the cut!
“Your vital results from the hospital…”
“Were weird,” Danny says. The admission makes something in him seize up.
Dad nods. “Jazzy knew about them. I… we knew—” Dad grimaces and corrects himself. “I knew something was wrong. Your grades, your attendance, getting into fights… Danny, I thought it was just you being a teenager.”
“Dad—” Danny starts.
“No, let me finish.” Dad feels so tired. Danny can taste the exhaustion from here. He wants nothing more than to wipe that exhaustion out of his father’s face, nestle him someplace safe instead. No. Danny shakes off the compulsion. His father would hate it if anyone, let alone his own son, tried to coddle him like that.
His dad keeps talking. “Look, son, I know that I definitely haven’t been the most attentive parent. No—” he puts up a hand— “please let me finish, Danny.” Danny closes his mouth and sits back down. “I haven’t been the most attentive parent, but it’s clear that I’ve been missing something big. I need to make it up to you. I need to fix this.” His father grimaces around the emotional crack in his voice. “That starts here. Danny, please tell me what’s going on.”
His breath sticks in his throat. Anxiety tugs his insides. He feels a bit of vertigo, like standing at the edge of a starry precipice.
“You.” Danny swallows. “You won’t like it.”
“That’s okay, son.”
“No, it’s—I—” Danny struggles to put it into words, brings his hands up instead. “It’s more complicated than that,” he says, his hands flopping down helplessly. “It’s—it matters. If you don’t like the truth. Or if you don’t believe me. I don’t…”
Logically, Danny knows that it’s being handed to him on a silver platter. Dad definitely already knows he’s no longer a baseline human. He’s at Vlad’s house. He has undeniable proof that despite everything, his dad will choose his son over his work in a heartbeat. Logic doesn’t do much to dislodge the block around the words he wants to say. Logic doesn’t do much to tell his heart that he won’t be hurt by this.
Dad’s face crumples. “Danny. Do you think I’ll hurt you?”
His heart drops. The silence is more than telling.

touyahawks vigilante AU 👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 for the wip game 😂
this AU spawned because i was thinking... in all the “touya doesn’t become dabi” dabihawks AUs, they always seem to fall in love pretty easily, but i think that dabi’s bitterness towards the system that spawned his father might actually cause some significant interpersonal conflict.
and then i fell face-first into a fully-fledged AU. uh... oops? i don’t have a solid plot yet, but i do have a few floating points around. genuinely considering hopping over to the pantser side of the pantser-plotter spectrum, because i have 0 snippets but so many bullet points to show for it.
spoilers for how i think this AU is going to pan out under the cut:
touya and keigo start dating first as their civilian personas, gradually building trust with each other, but when keigo opens up completely about how he feels about hero society and the status quo, cue the very fucking messy breakup + terrible communication lmao
this takes place a few years before canon, so the league of villains as we know it isn’t actually set up yet, but the HPSC sets up keigo to infiltrate this proto-LOV in a way similar to canon
as for touya, what i’m going to have happen to set him off in a completely different direction from canon is that enji actually ends up killing shouto during training and gets arrested. the fallout of his rage takes out a big chunk of the house, and it’s assumed that touya died as well, bones incinerated in a last-ditch attempt to use his terrible, volatile quirk to save his younger brother. that’s not what actually happened (which is a huge source of guilt for touya) but the reason why i chose to do this is because i needed something to force touya to realize that shouto was a victim and his father’s attention wasn’t something he should have been striving for.
i have a lot of thoughts on canon dabi, but one thing that needs to be different about touya here is that he takes moral responsibility for what he does. canon dabi, put bluntly, thinks of himself as an extension of endeavour; he thinks of himself more like a karmic monster whose actions are really his father’s and not his own. this is why he acts the way he does. and that’s why i decided to veer hard left like this in the setup for this AU; because it’s one hell of a wake-up call to see your father murder the little brother you were so jealous of.
i also needed touya to be plausibly dead, because otherwise i would have zero faith that the HPSC wouldn’t be watching him like a hawk. he needs to disappear, or he won’t be able to be a vigilante.
touya and hawks’ breakup is centered around hawks’ spy status coming out and touya flipping his shit over how the HPSC is so blatantly puppeteering hawks into really bad situations, except they’re both hot messes with issues, so it’s less of a productive conversation and more keigo feeling betrayed by how touya is reacting to his ideals and touya being frustrated because he feels like he’s looking at himself all those years ago, desperate to prove himself to someone who will only bring him to ruin. except neither of them can actually communicate that, so! breakup! the one person keigo thought he could trust turns out to be ideologically incompatible, and touya can’t get it through keigo’s thick skull that Hey, The HPSC Is Highkey Fucked Up
the endgame will basically be that keigo throws himself into simping for the HPSC with his spy mission, but it starts going downhill. he ends up implicating himself to society, but the commission tells him to keep going. they tell him it would be a waste to back out now. they keep pushing him to go further and deeper, but then keigo finally discovers the plans that they’ve been keeping.
it’ll be some kind of attack - on UA, a crowded shopping mall, maybe something to do with the noumus, doesn’t matter. the crux of it will be that keigo calls it in, expects them to finally respond to the huge number of civilian casualties, but... they don’t.
their take on it is that they've been given a unique opportunity to apprehend the league once and for all. they're willing to trade civilian lives in exchange for stopping the league and reasserting the power of heroes to always apprehend the villains.
keigo hangs up, slowly.
and it hits him. he is powerless. he's utterly alone. he's in the middle of the beast's den and he can't do anything to tie it down so that it doesn't kill anyone.
and then he remembers the one person who knows everything. someone with connections, or at least firepower.
cue tense conversations, hushed arguments over the phone that keigo takes in the tiniest slivers of privacy he can manage, a desperate plan, and then a tense death-defying battle. there will be a dramatic aerial save. they will expose the HPSC for their corruption. etcetera etcetera happy ending
and that’s about all i have for the plot outline! it’s very swiss-cheese, i know. i also don’t have a particularly strong attachment to the ship, but i do have a strong attachment to the character development arcs, so.... yeah
has anyone asked about "to sleep, perchance to dine" yet? 👀
ehehehehehe >:3c “to sleep, perchance to dine” is my cannibal serial killer tamaki fic. it’s dark, involves a lot of character death, and - gee, who would’ve guessed - cannibalism. i blame this entirely on @prince-liest for asking what would happen if tamaki ate a person, because i immediately got fic brain worms and started cooking up this hellish thing. no ships, definitely rated M with heavy tags. here’s a snippet under the cut! spoilers and warnings for, well, implied cannibalism:
The apartment is quiet, save for the gentle chop of the knife on the cutting board. Syrupy sunset pours through the windows, setting the wood furniture to a splendid burn. Tamaki loves his apartment, his safe haven from the rest of the world. He knows all the spots in the house where the light comes in, knows the knots in the floorboards and where they creak. He has a lovely garden that he tends to on the balcony, a riot of carefully selected and pruned vegetables. All edible. Tamaki does love to eat.
He runs his tongue along the points of his molars as he runs his knife parallel to the long bone. One smooth, controlled gesture separates the meat. He slices the filet thinly along the grain and sets it aside in the marinade. Licks his fingers clean. The serial number tags rattle when the door swings shut on the rewrapped cuts. He presses the lock shut. Licks his lips clean.
When did he move next to the marinade bowl?
He shakes his head, frowningly lightly at himself. “A little self-control,” he chastises himself quietly, and puts the bowl in his fridge. The meat glimmers, and he smiles. He’s been waiting to try Brainwashing for quite a while, after all.
THE CLOCKWORK HEART STILL BEATS!!!! PLEASE!!!! I THINK ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME! I NEED MORE!!!!
>:3c
for the benefit of those who don’t know: the clockwork heart still beats is my momomei steampunk AU! it was originally supposed to just be an atmospheric oneshot, but then it had the audacity to grow a plot and legs and get away from me. very rude! the first chapter is done - i plan on pre-writing everything, then editing and publishing as i finish revising each chapter.
here’s a lil’ snippet that i finished up just for you, AJ ;) top of chapter 2!
The tunnels beneath the city are not silent. The sound of grinding gears echoes endlessly and cacophonously, interspersed with streams of water that dirties further the more one travels from the shining centre, following downhill until it reaches the edge of the floating island and off into the clouded abyss. The waterways of the city were carved out by architects, artfully fluted for an audience of no one. The excesses of the city planners have never been plainer, Aizawa muses, but it belies their genius construction. These places are built to last.
