Most devastating realisation in lotm is when Adam gives the marrionet humanity and you realise that, for all the lampooning and planning Klein does in his mind, he is still an unreliable narrator. And that's he's actually just so, so, so damn tired.
And then you just have to keep reading the novel with this knowledge, and read about how Klein keeps going and keeps going and he still doesn't stop and rest. And you're begging and begging for him to take a break because even when he sleeps he's still working, he's contacting people or controlling utopia. Even when he rests and eats and calms down it's just one marrionet. The rest are still thinking and plotting. And then there's that fucking epilogue. Where he sleeps for so long, but it's not the way you've begged for. Nope! It's actually awful. It's just so awful.
