08. Blaine brings Kurt coffee in the morning.
When Art Mirrors Life (Klaine Drabble)
Kurt was happier than he'd ever been in his life, and he was really, really worried about that. After all, Blaine had just given him the "let's just stay friends, I don't want to risk our friendship" speech in a coffee shop line, for chrissake! But here he was, taking his mocha with a cherry "Thank you!" to the barista, and following Blaine to their usual table with a bounce in his step.
Sitting down across from Blaine on the shiny metal seat, Kurt wedged his fingernails between the coffee cup and the lid, popping off the cheap plastic top with a quiet pop. A tiny spray of hot foam spattered his nose, dotting his pale skin with tiny freckles of cream. With a yelp, Kurt drew back, and glared at Blaine as he daintily wiped the foam off of his face.
"Don't you dare laugh, Blaine Warbler."
Grinning, Blaine held up his hands in a gesture of surrender, chuckled, and then ducked to blow gently on the shiny surface of his medium drip before Kurt could retaliate.
Kurt just rolled his eyes, and once again questioned his own personal sanity. He was sitting in a cafe, drinking coffee and possibly flirting with the boy of his dreams. Who had, incidentally, just rejected him maybe thirty seconds ago.
Well...
Blaine didn't actually reject him. He'd spouted a bunch of crap about their friendship and how much he cared about Kurt (Kurt knew Blaine was probably being honest, but it was still crap); but then he'd slipped in a line, delivered with a desperate look on his face, about how he didn't understand romance in the least. And then he'd pretty much agreed that they were going to end up together. Someday.
Like in When Harry Met Sally.
Why was it that he and Blaine always communicated best through silly analogies and references to things only they seemed to really enjoy? It was like a pattering of little secrets, holding together the strands of personality and trust that made their friendship what it was. Inside jokes, secrets for just the two of them. It was one of the things Kurt loved most about Blaine that his (and Blaine was so his, no matter what had just happened in line) dark-haired hobbit was so eager to make those inside jokes, as if he was just as desperate to feel that closeness.
Speaking of closeness, Kurt's mocha was dangerously close to becoming lukewarm, and a lukewarm mocha would lead to a lukewarm day, instead of a fabulous one. And Kurt Hummel refused to accept anything short of fabulous. So he picked up his styrofoam cup as delicately as he knew how, and was about to take a sip of his well-earned caffeine when he saw something that stopped him with a start. There, curling against the rich brown of his coffee, the pale foam had looped into a question mark.
Well, that was certainly fitting; but right now, Kurt really didn't want to worry about what his and Blaine's future was, or what he really meant to Blaine. He could worry about that later, when he was nestled in his bed with a new copy of Vogue and a box of Cadbury chocolates. He could worry about the question mark in his coffee cup later. For now, he was going to enjoy his coffee, maybe snag a biscotti or two, and then enjoy the presence of the beautiful, amazing boy in front of him for as long as he possibly could.
Now that is something I can say 'Amen' to.
Just a thought...
What if Blaine sings "Somewhere Only We Know" to Kurt in their coffee shop with the old klainers watching in the background? Is it April 19th yet?
FEBRUARY 5, 2011: KLOFFEE (AND OTHER KLOODSTUFFS)
Source: Cracktastic
Spurred on by spoilers of Kurt and Blaine having coffee dates, (PRAISE THE KLAIRS!) Brad declared Kurt/Blaine/Coffee as their OTP, and manipped a picture of Kurt and Blaine onto a cup of coffee.
It went from Kloffee to Klapacinuos and Klattes, and then on to Blaingels.
It got crazy from there, but eventually those faces were photoshopped onto muffins, butter, cookies, chicken nuggets, tacos...any food you can think of really.
Two Medium Drips
If you didn't notice, in this scene, the barista announces that they are both drinking Medium Drips - Blaine's usual coffee order. LETS DISCUSS THIS, SHALL WE? :D
My first reaction was a little negative, because Kurt changing his coffee order to Blaine's sounds a lot like Kurt conforming - and we don't like the idea of Kurt changing too much of himself for Blaine. But the truth is.... I don't think that's what's going on here, lol. A while ago I made a post over-analyzing Kurt and Blaine's coffee orders: Blaine's is that of your typical coffee addict, Kurt's is more of a social drink. Thing is, before Blaine, I don't think Kurt was much of a coffee drinker. But now coffee has become a huge part of Kurt's life - it is the way he can spend more time with Blaine. They've gone to coffee, what, 4 or 5 times now, just onscreen? You know what I think is happening?
I think Kurt's getting addicted to coffee.
This thought just makes me giggle, because it must mean that he and Blaine go to coffee like every day ("post-rehearsal medium drip" anyone?). Blaine has unknowingly corrupted our poor boy Kurt into drinking black coffee. And Kurt seems to have no problem with it.
There are more layers to this, of course (I mean if I'm going to over-analyze this, why not go all the way?). So here's a bit more food for thought:
Kurt probably asked to try Blaine's coffee once before (SO CUTE)
Kurt could've easily ordered other roasts, added cream and sugar, etc. But he's probably trying to impress Blaine by drinking it the way Blaine likes it. Aww.
Kurt definitely ordered their coffee in BIOTA (Blaine would've ordered Kurt the mocha)
The writers are OBVIOUSLY trying to say something with these coffee orders - I don't think so much that Kurt is conforming to Blaine, but rather they are becoming a unit, an "us", together.
Blaine left his coffee behind when he stormed out. He was so upset, he didn't even take his full, hot, untouched cup of coffee. This just adds to my theory that Kurt paid for it. Blaine didn't want it anymore - not the affection without the acceptance.
I really want coffee now.
