LIVERPOOL x MAN UNITED | 4 x 1
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted tougher tests await after opening their Premier League campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win over West Ham. Mohamed Salah picked up where he left off last season with his 45th goal in 53 appearances for the club while Sadio Mane maintained his record of scoring in each opening match of the campaign since he moved to Anfield in 2016. Daniel Sturridge completed the rout by finding the net with his first touch after coming on as a substitute and while the result justified Liverpool’s billing as second-favourites behind Manchester City, Klopp knew it was comfortable against the Hammers. “West Ham will play for sure a good season but they are not the Uniteds, the Citys. We have to be ready week in week out for the challenges,” he said. “This season will be unbelievable hard. We have expectations as well. That is already enough to feel completely different before a Premier League game.” . . . . . #jurgenklopp #klopp #klopplfc #kloppeffect #liverpoolfc #liverpoolfans #liverpoolfamily #lfcfamily #lfcforlife #lfcforever #lfcfamily #premierleague #pl (at Anfield)

Champions League winner @luchogarcia14 insists there is no reason for former club Liverpool to fear Manchester City in their upcoming European quarter-final. The all-English affair will see Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Anfield – where they have already lost this season – on April 4 with the return leg the following week. City are favourites courtesy of their form in the Premier League, which they are only a few matches away from winning, but Garcia was a member of the Liverpool team which beat domestic champions Chelsea in a semi-final on their way to their 2005 Istanbul triumph and he is confident ahead of the City game. Asked whether his old side should be worried by Guardiola’s all-conquering team the Spaniard, who played for Liverpool Legends in the entertaining 5-5 draw with their Bayern Munich counterparts in a match in aid of the LFC Foundation, said: “No, I don’t think so. People won’t be thinking about that.” . . . . . . #LuisGarcia #luchogarcia #jurgenklopp #klopp #klopplfc #kloppeffect #liverpoolfc #liverpoolfans #liverpoolfamily #lfcfamily #lfcforlife #lfcforever #lfcfamily #ucl #uefachampionsleague #championsleague (at Anfield)
Former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus believes Jurgen Klopp can end Manchester City’s stranglehold on silverware in much the same way he did when Borussia Dortmund broke Bayern Munich’s dominance. Liverpool’s last trophy was the league cup in 2012, while their wait for a championship title stretches back 28 years, but Klopp has a history of succeeding against more powerful, wealthy opponents having won back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012. The first opportunity will come in the forthcoming Champions League quarter-final against City, who have already won the Carabao Cup and are Premier League champions in waiting, but the task will be even greater next season. Not only will Klopp’s target be to catch and surpass Pep Guardiola’s side but also stave off competition from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea – both of whom traditionally have bigger transfer spends – and Tottenham. . . . . . . #jurgenklopp #klopp #klopplfc #kloppeffect #liverpoolfc #liverpoolfans #liverpoolfamily #lfcfamily #lfcforlife #lfcforever #lfcfamily #mancity #mcfc #manchestercity #manchestercityfc #mancityfans #manchestercityfans #mancityfc #premierleague #pl #pepguardiola #guardiola (at Anfield)
