It was stupid to worry, Coraline knew that much. She knew that Nolan would be thrilled with the news, nearly as much as she’d been when she’d figured it out. But some part of her was anxious, whether it had to do with trying to break the news to her husband without giving him a panic attack or whether it had to do with her own nervousness about their future. Ever since she’d found out the news earlier that morning, Coraline had been trying to figure out how best to tell Nolan her news. Candle lit dinner? Leaving the test on the bathroom counter for him to find? Calling him? She was still brainstorming when he arrived home from work, her scientific paper sitting open on her desktop, untouched since she’d discovered the truth. Feeling a pair of arms wrap around her from behind, Cora smiled, turning slightly to peck Nolan on the cheek. God, he was so beautiful, and all hers. Would their child have his eyes or his lips? Without thinking, it seemed to tumble out of her mouth. “Damn, you’re going to be the best dad.” She grinned. “Want to say hello to both of us this time?”

Early morning and instead of her alarm awaking the princess, it was instead her apartment shower, the running water and low hum of Nolan starting to wake up under the water stirring her from her sleep. Slipping out from the covers, Coraline made her way to the bathroom, her undergarments finding a temporary home on the floor leading to the shower. She was half asleep, but knew that the hot water would wake her up soon enough. Climbing into the shower through a slit in the curtain behind Nolan, Cora grabbed a loofa and a bottle of body wash. She said nothing, merely grinning when Nolan seemed surprised at her entrance. “Turn back around. Someone’s gotta wash your back, yeah?” Gently pressing the foaming loofa to his skin, Cora rubbed small circles along her boyfriend’s back. Leaning forward, she pressed a small kiss to his neck. “Good morning babe.”

Aurora bit down on her bottom lip, shrugging slightly. It was hard to look August in the eyes. After all they’d been through, you would’ve thought that she could be more open with him, but fear still lingered in Rory’s mind, irrational perhaps, but present nonetheless. “I needed to clear my head is all. There’s been a lot going on lately, between us and between me and Trevor..... I just.... I needed to think about what I really want. Who I want, I mean. I’m sorry I disappeared like that, but I just needed some time to listen to myself think.”

The drunk giggle erupted from the girl before she could stop herself. Rory wasn’t sure if she wanted to laugh or cry, so she’d drunk enough to let her body decide for itself. Pulling her arm out of August’s grip, Rory stumbled back. “I’ll go back to bed, sure, soon as you leave. You can’t take me back to bed, remember that ended a while ago? I go back to Trevor’s bed now because he doesn’t hate me.” Frowning, she felt the tears beginning to start and hated the feeling. “There’s no Rory and Gus anymore. You don’t get to walk me to bed anymore.”
