pick a planetary storyline you particularly enjoy, and tell me all about it. Especially why you like it. have you set any fics there?

Hm, the planetary storylines... A lot of them have bits of lore, and I do have to give the Republic Alderaan storyline credit for having the one of the few (the only?) noble who actually seems like a competent leader, but Tatooine is probably the most memorable storyline. (Not counting ones that are memorable for bad reasons.)

I like that the focus isn't directly Empire vs Republic, and both sides get solid stories. The techzombie thing is effectively creepy and disturbing and the asshole from Czerka is a satisfying enemy. Your allies on both sides are likeable or at least interesting. And it's overall different enough to not end up blending into the other planetary storylines. Or blending into the general exploration missions -- there are several planets where I couldn't tell you exactly what the planetary mission was.

It's also the only planetary mission set I can think of where you could combine the Imperial and Republic storylines and have them work together, which has tempted me to do something with it in fic at some point. And if I ever figure out a way to set that up, I will. It's just that my remaining Republic and Imperial folks are a bit harder to cross-faction with one another. (Or this isn't quite the right set up for that to work. Or something.)

I actually wish I could think of more missions or storylines from the game to riff on for fic. I'm still very fond of what I did with Kelara Sakoal and her incredibly unwise letter. If you (or anyone else) can think of any missions or storylines I should look at...

Honestly I don’t watch much TV (or very many movies) and I don’t tend to stick with a show long enough to see it get cancelled or run it’s course. I tend to see a couple seasons and then lose interest, so I’m only including shows I saw most episodes for and stayed until the final (or most recent) season. In no particular order (except first gif is definitely my fav)...

Yes it is. She’s called Pippi Langstrumpf in German which is a direct translation of Longstocking. There are several longer episodes, more or less movies.

2. Anything that you’d like to write but feel like you’re unable to?

Oh heck. I have a lot of trouble handling relationship stuff outside of friendship, and also sex (whether in relationships or otherwise). It's not that I want to write smut or romantic stuff rather than gen, but, like, Savler and Mako are a couple and conveying or exploring that at all is really hard. Or my awkward ficlets around Kyrian and Kaliyo's relationship (whatever that even was. ill-suited partnership with benefits?). Kyrian's other...uh, experiences, for that matter, from celebrating with Sanju after their success on Balmorra to his willingness to trade sex for information or access or whatever. (Sex work for the Empire, except the coin isn't money?) I am very aro/ace and the whole sex and relationship stuff is very uncomfortable for me. But I have characters who are not, and whose experiences are not, and conveying that is really fucking awkward and uncomfortable. Hell, even properly establishing Jezari's orientation (which is the same as mine) was awkward and possibly not direct enough.

(I don't even know if cultures in Star Wars look at sexual orientation the way we do! Not all cultures historically have! Go to so some places and some times and try to establish people's orientations and they're not going to have any idea what you're talking about.)

On the one hand, I do generally just write gen adventure stuff, on the other hand romance and sex are part of the human sentient condition, even when an individual's opinion on them is "nope!" (And definitely when it isn't.)

20. Do you work on a single project or many at the same time? How does that work for you?

I generally only have one longer work in progress at any given time, but I might write any number of ficlets during that time. It seems to work all right, except for how hecking slow I am at writing.

Unfortunately, he’s clever enough to make it work for long enough to really get himself in trouble.

Keeper had really hoped that sending him to a place like Hutta, where there are no innocent people, would be enough to file off those inconvenient scruples. It’s the perfect place to send a young agent who’s a little naive, a little too principled, a little too soft. Everyone there is terrible. Violence is a way of life. And he’s undercover as part of that world of violence. How could he not walk away understanding how necessary the Empire is, how necessary the darker parts of the job are?

I’m not sure if Keeper overestimated Kyrian or underestimated him.

I really get the impression in game that, for all that the Empire is supposed to run on power, there’s a lot of preserving the appearance of power messing things up. All that not directly addressing when Sith are causing problems - that’s not about maintaining real power - real power can weather questions and admit mistakes, that’s about maintaining the appearance of power.

So the SIth who should have tried and executed Kyrian and the Sith in charge of Korriban security can’t go to Intelligence and work with them to figure out what the heck happened there. It would be admitting weakness. They lost a  prisoner! And not even a Force Sensitive one!

Now, I suspect Sithy egos have them assuming his rescuers were disguised Jedi, but still. People got onto Korriban, walked off with their prisoner, and booked it. That’s not supposed to happen! It can’t happen!

(We will ignore that, canonically, people escape from Korriban all the freaking time, not to mention people who shouldn’t be there popping on and off for various reasons. But that’s not something that can get out. Appearance of power being more important, after all.)

So Intelligence can afford to pretend that they don’t know the Sith lost a prisoner (since the Sith aren’t going to be admitting to the fact), which saves them from having to expend resources on someone who may or may not continue to be a threat to the Empire. (If Intelligence had any idea where to start looking for Kyrian, that’d be a different story, but it is a very big galaxy and all they know is that he didn’t appear in SIS hands or anywhere else they have eyes.) Aaaand I kinda have to think that Intelligence would like to forget about the whole thing. An active hunt for their traitorous mistake keeps that an open wound. Washing their hands of him once he was handed over to the Sith lets them close that file and be done with it.

... Which means all the flags on his record should Kyrian foolishly go into Imperial space and get arrested for something have to be devoid of information. Intelligence and assorted SIth just want this person, no explanation of why. Which is kind of darkly hilarious considering how dangerous that would make Kyrian sound to the average Imperial compared to how dangerous Kyrian actually is(n’t).

Mind, as far as Kyrian is concerned Imperial space = death. Slow, horrible, this is why intelligence agents carry suicide pills you idiot death. The Luck is not going to be fucking around in Imperial space any time soon. At least not with Kyrian on board.

(Meanwhile, the Empire is so busy making sure they look terrifying that they’re not as terrifying as they could be. Which is good.)
