Akamido/Midoaka is thee funniest KNB ship by far because with all the other ships it's very clear that the bromance is the key component and foundation of it all and imo it kind of hinges on the fact that they're in a shonen and they love basketball and yadda yadda but with Akamido it's like. Basketball is just one facet of their relationship. The truth is if either of them were born a girl and it was het they'd be each other's ideal woman for marriage. Because you can't tell me Midorima doesn't want a cheeky ojousama he can spoil with his hard work who will offer him the social uplift his prideful self craves. And that Akashi doesn't want an elegant, intelligent glasses girl who will punish him but still mother him. But they will never be able to forgive the slight of the other being born male and therefore a challenger in shogi, in academics, basketball, etc. Don't even offer me your hand (you weirdo) I want to be your enemy.
