quick akmm doodle!! before i perish with exams-
If Momoi were to give Akashi a cutesy nickname like she does for the other GoM, what would it be?
Akachan (also means “baby/infant” in Japanese)
Akakun (shortened form, but using masculine honorific)
Akatan (very cutesy, -tan baby talk for -chan)
Akatama (very cutesy, -tama baby talk for -chan)
Akasan (shortened, but -san is still respectful; sounds like “okaa-san” (mother)
Akashin (cutesy, follows pattern like Midorin and Kagamin)
something else (comment/tag/DM)
I do like that Momoi and Akashi have this mutual respect thing going on in which they address each other properly (“Akashi-kun”/“Momoi-san”), but then again I also love the idea of them being overly familiar with eachother like they are with the other GoM.
What Akashi would potentially call Momoi is easy enough to guess (if “Momoi-san” is off the table, it’d be “Satsuki(-san)” in my mind, as Akashi’s patterns of address are pretty easy to nail down. But Momoi nicknames people in a random pattern, and no two nicknames are the same. So I’ve always struggled with what she’d use for Akashi, especially since I don’t understand how nicknaming works in Japan. From my limited understand on diminutives, a lot of them 1 of 2 ways; either formed by shortening someone’s name and adding a cutesy honorific (one meant for children), or by combining sounds that “sound good”.
Personally, I think she’d use some variant on his family name, as the only ones she uses a nickname based on their given names for are Aomine and Kuroko (“Dai-chan” and “Tetsu-kun”) which makes sense seeing as one is her childhood friend and the other her crush. (She also uses “Shogo-kun” for Haizaki, which I always found interesting. This could be her perhaps matching Hazaki’s disrespectful attitude (in which he uses everyone’s given names without permission to show he thinks of them as beneath him (Aomine, Kise, Kuroko) by acting overly familiar/referring to him like she would a child or it could be completely harmless and perhaps they have some sort of history (like they were in the same class when they were much younger, in which it’s common for young children to use given names more freely etc)).
So, what do you think Momoi would nickname Akashi? For reference, here are her nicknames for everyone else;
Aomine - Dai-chan (based on given name “Daiki”; -chan is used for young children or girls you’re close with, in Aomine’s case, he and Momoi grew up together, so her using a shortened form of his given name + -chan for him makes sense)
Kuroko - Tetsu-kun (based on given name “Tetsuya”; -kun is a more respectful honorific used for boys; using your partner’s given name/a shortened form of it + -kun is also a way a girlfriend would refer to her boyfriend).
Kise - Ki-chan (shortened form of family name; -chan is a cutesy/girly honorific, usually used for young boys)
Midorima - Midorin (cutesy, based on family name, this is a case where the name is shortened/added to for it to “sound good”)
Murasakibara - Mukkun/Muk-kun (I personally prefer to omit the hyphen for this one when typing it out but I don’t think it matters) (shortened family name, -kun is a proper honorific for boys)
Kagami - Kagamin (cutesy, based on family name; another case where you added on to the name to make it “sound good” in Japanese)
What should I write first?
Which ship do you prefer?
Momoi x Aomine
Momoi x Kuroko
Momoi x Akashi
Momoi x someone else (pls specify)
I do think it is hot that it was Akashi that discovered Momoi's genius and likely helped coach her on it a bit as he did with Kuroko and I wish we (I) could See him be weirdly possessive and proud about it during the Touou v. Seirin 2nd match like he is about Kuroko. Him giggling and kicking his lil feet when she rips Kuroko to shreds in front of everyone :) When your 2 disciples (in Bokushi's view) fight each other in a cage match how cute. Also the fact she completely disabled Kuroko by picking him apart using just the tools she had while Akashi's alternative "I'll just make a stronger fleshpuppet version to hurt his feelings" plan didn't work (L). Let Momoi fight Akashi too
Also what were they doing during their own match when Aomine was sulking. I'd like to see it
Hello! Trying to make an effort to send more asks to people. What's your current favorite art WIP?
Hi !
So i'm an idiot and thought i answered this months ago but turn out i only sent it to my drafts
BUT on the bright side, now that i found it in my drafts it reminded me to finish this drawing ! So you have a new Akashi fanart to look forward to i guess
baking chocolate together (or rather, Akashi is painstakingly trying to teach Momoi how to avoid poisoning her number one food tester and childhood friend Mr The Only One Who Can Beat Me Is Me)
Merry Chrsyelr,,, AkaMomo for a Secret Santa event on discord! (late posting because I was too lazy)
read more for No BG
Bingo for akamomo because I've seen it around a lot recently and it baffles me and I want more perspective. :D
Ok, I'm so glad you asked because I have a LOT of thoughts on this one! At first glance it sound like a crackship, but somehow it makes a lot of sense ? If we only take into account the main story, it doesn't shows much but the light novel and its adaptation make it so much more interesting.
First of all, they are both very smart, the two most intellectual characters in the GOM. At Teiko, Akashi was probably the only one Momoi could have deep and interesting conversation with. It must have been really refreshing for both of them. Midorima is nice and all, but his perpetual need to beat Akashi at something (Shogi, school grades, etc.) must be exhausting at times. With Momoi he could have fully genuine conversation.
In the Replace novel (and it's manga adaptation) Momoi is completely starstruck by Akashi, it's emphasized by the fact that most of the Teiko Era chapters are in her pdv. Every single time Akashi appears or is mentioned she think about how impressive and smart he is (it's really adorable). She has a blind trust in him and his decisions, but despite how highly she thinks of him she always acts normally around him.
Akashi helped her out multiple times, he is very caring and thoughtful towards her, making sure she'll get to play with fireworks with them after their passage at the commissariat, including her when the GOM plays together, helping her find the lipstick her mom want (and those are just the first three examples that came to my mind, the novel are full of them) Which, i concede, the real Akashi is that way toward everyone, but Momoi is usually the one who takes care of others, so this is the only relationship she has where it feels like it goes both ways. Although rare, when Akashi needs help with something, it is shown several times that she is the one he goes to.
Something the fandom seems to completely forget: it was Akashi who discovered Momoi's abilities. It's thanks to his trust that Momoi was able to truly become a player in her own right instead of just being part of the club because Aomine joined. He is the one who shows the most respect for her abilities (who are in my opinion among the most broken in the GOM). He truly thinks highly of her and he praise her several times for it, whether she is here or not. And finally, they were the two most desperate to keep the team together when everything goes to shit. Both of them are shown very lonely before the team becomes real friends and this is their first experience with a group of close friends. Losing that broke them both in different ways. (yes, other things played a role, but it was a very important factor.) Their friends are the most important part of their lives for both of them. Kuroko's focus was on basketball and his drive to show them how their way of thinking was wrong regarding basketball.
I'm really sorry for the length, I underestimated how much I like this ship. It's not my favorite ship for either of them, but it's probably my second fave for both. I don't think they would ever date, but if they did, they would be the most perfect, healthiest, cutest couple ever. (And the GOM would be bound to stay friend forever thanks to their combined effort and scheming, perfect)
