This request was written for knb-imagines and the scenario requested was: Fluffy Midorima.
Here you go dear! I’m sorry I had to post it this way, I was stupid and accidentally deleted your ask… By the way, i’ve chosen the name ‘Shizuka’ for Midorima’s mother so I’ll be using this in requests from now on~
Ding-dong!
The doorbell of your boyfriend’s home rings out into the quiet morning air. 'That's strange,' You think. Midorima’s usually all ready to go by the time you arrive to pick him up from his home. So what was wrong?
Before you can even begin to think of options, you hear a scream come from inside the Midorima household.
“KYAH!! SHIN-CHAN WATCH OUT!!” Comes the shriek of your sweetheart’s mother, followed by a horribly loud crash and bang the silence.
Feeling rather worried now (who wouldn’t be?!), you decide that politeness be damned, you would have to go inside. Without further thought, you quickly twist the doorknob (and to your relief it’s unlocked) and after quickly setting your shoes aside in a semi-neat manner, you rush down the hallway and to the kitchen where a rather distressed scene is revealed to you: Shintarō is lying haphazardly on the floor and his mother is on her knees, cradling her son’s head in her lap while Kyōko is sobbing not too far away. Meanwhile, some dishes, and in turn, food, is on the floor as well as a chair.
“U-Umm, I’m sorry to intrude so rudely Shizuka-san, but, what happened?” You make our presence known albeit somewhat shyly, though your concern for your boyfriend’s current condition completely overrides that emotion.
“Oh, [F/n]-chan thank goodness you’re here!!” Shizuka, or rather Shintarō’s mother, greets you, relief washing over her worried figure. Before the woman of the house can do any other explaining, Shūtoku’s number six speaks up.
“Mother, is that [F/n]-san?” The emerald haired teen asks and you’re taken aback by how weary he sounds. Feeling rather concerned you’re about to run over to your lover when you hear a crumbling sound beneath your feet. Immediately, you take a step back only to reveal a small piece of glass which had been crushed and broken under your foot but had fortunately not cut you. It’s also then you notice the other pieces of the delicate material around you as well as a certain pair of familiar frames you know all too well.
“Shintarō-kun…” Your face is very pale and the tension in the room seems to rise.
“Are these your glasses…?” Your more than obvious answer is cut short when Kyōko lets out a dreadfully loud wail.
“O-Onī-channn!!! I’m s-sorry!! P-Please don’t h-hate me!!!!” Although the doe eyed child is usually loud in a cheerful manner, it is still quite amazing to hear exactly how powerful a child’s lungs can be when in distress.
When you look back to your boyfriend and his mother, you too suddenly become quite worried. Midorima’s mother looks quite nervous, appearing as if she wants desperately to comfort her seemingly enraged son while Shintarō looks like he’s about to blow a blood vessel.
“H-Hey, Shintarō-kun I don’t know what happened but–” Before you can finish your attempt to calm your lover down, Midorima silently rises, offering his mother a hand up before turning towards his little sister who’s whimpering now upon having to face the frightening being that is her elder brother.
“Kyōko…” He begins and you’re worried that even your cool headed Shintarō will be prone to irrational thinking when something like this happens, but much to your and Shizuka-san’s relief, Midorima gently lifts a hand out to ruffle Kyōko’s green locks.
“Be more careful with your chair next time, please. It’s troublesome because look: Onī-chan’s glasses broke, yes?” Even you’re surprised by the gentle look that’s taken the place of the previously annoyed one. Although you’re ashamed to admit it, even you had thought your level headed lover would loose his cool considering how anal he is about his day to day life going without a hitch.
“I-I’m sorry Onī-chan!! Please forgive me!” Kyōko wails yet again and the shooting guard only offers a soft smile before bringing his beloved sister into his arms, stroking her hair lovingly and giving small reassurances.
It’s still quite a while before the two of you head off to school what with having to clean up the mess and calm Kyōko down, but finally, you and Shintarō are out the door. Interestingly, both of you let out a heavy sigh when you finally exit the stage of the hectic morning and it seems you both don’t know what to say. You’re still overcome by how gentle and loving your sweetheart had been; that certainly wasn’t an everyday sight. Perhaps Midorima was thinking the same thing.
The two of you continue to walk in silence after putting on your shoes and just when you’re thinking of something to say Shintarō walks straight into a pole a little ways down the street. The sound he makes when his body meets the metal object is both comical and painful yet you can’t help but laugh. On the ground, your Shintarō is looking rather pissed off but takes the hand you’ve offered him, although a bit scorned by the fact that you laughed at him.
“I’m sorry Shintarō-kun, I really am,” By now you’re gasping for breath, and although you’re honestly sorry, your current emotional status doesn’t seem to show it.
“Hmph!” Midorima scoffs coldly, turning forwards before continuing to walk to school.
“H-Hey! Wait for me! You know your legs are much longer than mine meanine!” You screech, jogging to catch up with your pissed off lover, tugging at his uniform while you wear a pouty expression.
“Shi-n-ta-rō!” You enunciate the syllables of Midorima’s first name, trying to catch his attention again, which he boldly rejects.
“C’mon sweetie! I was just messing around! You forgave Kyōko-chan so fast, not fair!” You pout more until you see Shintarō freeze when he hears the pet name being uttered and you grin. Feeling victorious, you’re about to open your mouth to commence with more boyfriend harassment, but the feeling of Midorima grabbing your hand stops you.
It seems that the day is full of surprises, as your lover has initiated not only hand holding, but the intertwining of fingers as well. By now you’re starry eyed and red in the face and having difficulties between telling if you’re love struck or just straight up embarrassed, but before you even have time to think, Midorima’s speaking again.
“I-Idiot… I can’t see very well today so I’ll have to rely on you, alright? Cancers’ lucky items just happen to be their significant other as well…” Shintarō tells you rather boldly at first but by the end his courage seems to wear out and his voice begins to fade but not before you catch what he says. It’s then that you decide that you’re most definitely love struck and in response to your lover’s request, you squeeze his hand tighter, which makes him jump.
“It’d be an honor~”
