Crow and Dirk never got along. 

It’s not that they didn’t try to! Often times, they were talking, they got each other and the jokes they were spewing. It’s not like either hated the other either. They found each other… Tolerable. Well, okay, listen. 

Dirk liked Crow, but felt it wasn’t shared.So, it ended up odd he found him like this.

Crow wasn’t one to visit him. Crow never came along unless he needed to vent about something, or to get something out there that Dirk “needed” to know, for some off reason. Crow only came around when Dirk had horribly screwed up, and to scold him for daring to try something new, or say something a little off quilter to his usual. To shoot him down when his feelings grow a little too strong, or to beat him down with just a few words for trying to help others in the only ways he could. 

Crow never visited him. He simply saw him.

Dirk had been out of the house for most of the day that day. He had people to see, things to do, people to do! He couldn’t always be at home, he couldn’t always be home. He couldn’t always answer his phone when someone called, especially when the person is probably going to say something that just is going to rag on his already tired heart because he offered some advice that turned out to be a bad idea or something. Of course he also ignored the voicemails, from everyone, and the messages. Deciding to enjoy solitude.

Solitude is what he thought he was going to get when he came home to darkness. But boy was he in for a surprise, because there, fast asleep on his couch, was Crow. 

Now that was a startle and a half.

He’s silent as he puts down his bag and walks up to the sleeping bird named Strider. His heels silent on the wood floor before they’re suddenly off. Wig and jewelry dropped to the table in front of him as his bright eyes almost glowed in the darkness. 

W…Why was he here?

It didn’t matter as he flashed away and came back with a pillow and a blanket. Heavy, warm and soft. A pillow fluffed up, to which he gingerly lifts Crow’s head and slides it under after tucking him in. Hands feather light as he pets down the blanket. There’s something primal in him that takes over as he leans over him, watching his face as he relaxes, as he looks genuinely at some sort of peace. 

Instinct–no. Not that. Dirk leans down and gently kisses Crows cheek. Fingers sifting through his hair before smiling softly.

“See you tomorrow.”
