@Regran_ed from @theknifemag - Best of 2018: The ESEE JG5. (@eseeknives) from December 2018 issue of Knife Magazine: “ESEE JG5 The ESEE JG5 is a remarkable knife for many reasons, not least of which is that it went from inception to release in about six months. It began as a conversation between designer James Gibson (@knobcreekforge54), Smoky Mountain Knife Works @smokymountainknifeworks), and ESEE at the 2018 Show and was released this Fall. While SMKW has offered “exclusive” releases of companies’ existing knives in a special color, material, or graphics in the past, the JG5 itself is exclusively available from SMKW. George “Nessmuk” Sears was known as the “Godfather of Ultralight Camping.” He derided the popular bowie knives as thick, clumsy, and “better suited to dime-novel cowboys” than to a hunter’s kit. The JG5 is James Gibson’s interpretation of the classic Nessmuk pattern, being a thin, strong knife, suited for skinning, food-prep, and eating. Checking in at 9.625” overall, the JG5 has a full-tang, 4.875” blade made from .125” thick tumbled and black-oxide coated 1095 high carbon steel. The scales are a scalloped Micarta. It is trim, coming in at a mere 5.3 ounces. “Nessmuk” himself would approve. Included is a deep pouch-style leather sheath, and several aftermarket sheath options are beginning to pop up. With its MSRP of $114.95, the ESEE JG5 is a solid value in a modern American designed and manufactured bush knife with a great historical pedigree.” #knifeoftheday #knives #knifestagram #knifeporn #knifenation #bushcraft #bushcraftknife #knifeworld #knifemagbestof2018 #bestof2018 (at Smoky Mountain Knife Works) https://www.instagram.com/p/BraA46plI5I/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1vborkar2nzjr
