And that’s a wrap (except for the soaking/blocking)! The pattern is the Low-key Sweater Vest (the armholes were tooo deep for my taste so sleeves were the solution, ¾ for my preference) in lovely Malabrigo Rios superwash merino in Lettuce and Cirrus Gray.
For those following along at home (and thanks to all 3 of you 😘), I finished this year’s contributions to the Hats for Sailors project at a nice, round 60 hats!
Have I stopped knitting hats? Oh, no. That would be so not me. I’ve got 4 in the hopper for next year, or for whoever needs a lovely handknit hat.
I get it, I get it! knitting all black projects is a test of your eyesight! But I got 3 skeins of black #malabrigorios in a mystery bundle and decided to take a chance on an all-black hat (instead of doing my typical stranded colorwork)
Plus, having challenged myself with a cable knit hat and won, I am getting cocky and trying the antler hat from @tincanknits that has been sitting intimidatingly in my want to knit list for ages

I was all set to do a motif with this russety hand-dyed yarn from Malabrigo (Volcán in Rios) with that orange Ultrawool from Berroco, but I just wasn’t feeling the contrast so I frogged that work and picked up the Frank Ochre and set to work with a different motif. I was just kind of feeling the fall vibes…
The motif is “Leaves” by Andrea Rangel in her AlterKnit Stitch Dictionary, adapted to use in a hat.
My Wednesday wip: 8 inches of air. This qiviut yarn is literally weightless.
Lots of fun new motifs for my fellow fans of stranded colorwork knitting in the latest from Andrea Rangel, “The Knitovation Stitch Dictionary” so of course I had to work one up for my last few hats for this year’s Hats for Sailors project (Malabrigo Rios in Sabiduría for the base, and Medusa for the colorful pairing). This is a 6-stitch repeat, Artemis! I’ve yet to block it but the colors are delish 😋
It’s a dang chilly day out so I thought I’d wear/model my finished #icebreakersweater (my second ever completed #handknitsweater project for those keeping track) but I learned that my arms are too short (surprise) to get a good selfie — but you get the picture!
I wish I’d made it about 4-5” longer than the pattern called for, and I could have gone 2-3 sizes smaller, but post-soaking the yarn’s soft and lofty and I wore it outside to fill the bird feeders without putting a coat over it and was still toasty warm. Yay!

I’m working away at #myfirstsweater (Day 11 of #knitting) and I’ve got 2 audiobooks that are leaving the service on the 12th so of course I’m listening to a collection of Christmas short stories on a glorious afternoon — Also, it’s getting to be a challenge to manage it all!
