It's been a while since I posted a WIP update. I've been working a lot of overtime after I had to get my car fixed, but I have been crafting still, it's been keeping me sane.

First up, I cast on, and have been working on my cotton sweater.

The colors are washed out in the picture, but in person it's a beautiful deep blue/purple. I had to fiddle with some stitch numbers after swatching. The pattern was intended for wool yarn and made in a looser gauge, and I didn't like how the cotton looked at that gauge. So, I went down 2 needle sizes and got a much nicer fabric. The swatch didn't change much after washing and blocking, so that made the math a little easier. I did cast on the stitch count for a larger size and I'm going to work a few more increase rounds in the yoke. I'm not sure if I'll need more underarm stitches or not yet, we'll see once I get there. I anticipate having to frog this back at some point, so I'm putting in life lines to make it a little easier.

Next is something I thought I wasn’t going to make a few months ago...

Socks

I worked the toe section a number of times as I figured out what shape and stitch count I liked, and finally started a little bit of the pattern. I mostly plan on socks to be a project I bring to work on while on my break at work since I don't like bringing larger projects. I also picked up some 9 inch circulars to try out, and I don't hate them. I think they may work better for simpler pattern, so I may go back to a magic loop for this pair.

Since I was a small child, I've been periodically obsessed with the story of the Children of Lir. I have recently learned a fiber craft that I think will enable me to really embrace this (possibly unhealthy) obsession. So this post will be documenting my attempts to draft a colourwork pattern that will let me finally wear my obsession of my sleeve (and the rest of my upper body also).

I've only made one jumper but I'm a big believer in hubris, so I think I'll be able to make it work. Anyway, I know this is going to be a long term project, and a tough one at that. So currently, the plan is to work it either piecing or bottom up, but I suspect piecing will probably be a bit better, on account of the weight of colourwork and my ongoing question not to give myself tendonitis. I think I'm going to use these illustrations for the front and back

Need to pick, obviously, but yeah. That's where we are rn, will update as time goes on!

Started knitting a hat with bulky / super bulky weight yarn because I want to use it up. Super bulky yarn was useful when I was first learning to knit but now I find it annoying tbh.

Going to use the red yarn to do some colorwork accents near the brim

finally cast on a new knitting project!! bought this pattern literal years ago and never knit it to completion, i started a few times but never got very far. i plan on using mini skeins for this, so there will be small sections of different colors :3

Making blanket squares out of my handspun yarn!! I was originally going to make a rather eclectic and kind of lumpy scarf with my handspun yarn but I realized a blanket would b a better choice even if it's going to take longer to actualize
