Should we open this up to knitting and crocheting charity items for members of all fandoms, not just Hiddlestoners?

UPDATES (please read!)
Hey there!
How's the crocheting/knitting going?
I just wanted to check in, make sure you all know I'm still here.
To be honest, this year has just been a shit for me. I've been incredibly busy, sick and tossed around by unforeseen circumstances. It's also been a wonderful year in a lot of ways, but no less than five infections have made me miss a lot of uni work, and moving in with my fiance means I'm not as financially able as I once was.
I'd just like us to all be on the same page, and I'm sorry to have to change things (again):
1. Prizes. The scarves look amazing. I'm sure the winner will love them. Hey, I love them. But I physically don't have time and cannot afford to make all the dolls. I'm so, so sorry. What I'm offering instead is the two scarves (Thor-Loki and Suttgart-Loki, see previous posts with pics) and a 50cm ragdoll of a Tom character of your choice (including Tom himself). I hope that's okay, and it's going to be hand-embroidered and super, super cute, and also, the winner's choice. (Another note regarding prizes is: if you do make the most squares/items, you can of course accept the prizes, or you can give them to the next in line if you don't want them. Or divide them up however you want, it's up to you!)
2. Squares. We're not just knitting/crocheting squares anymore. You can knit or crochet just about anything you want, as long as it goes to charity. In terms of a square count for the prizes, a pair of socks/mittens would be one square. A whole blanket or something that big would be up to my discretion to decide, but I'm working out 1 square = 1 unit of yarn of the same size.
3. Where to post. I'm still encouraging 'Knit a Square', simply because there are so many orphans in need of warmth. However, your grandma or next door neighbor or local animal shelter might need warmth, too! As long as they're being given charitably and not for profit, I don't mind where they're sent.
4. Deadline. The deadline is 11.59pm the day before Tom's birthday (8th February, 2014, as his birthday is the 9th). I've decided to make it then because 1) There are other projects on then, 2) It's his birthday, 3)It's his 33rd birthday, pretty darn special! (Sewing pun intended).
I hope these changes seem fair, and I'm sorry with regard to the prizes about having to cut back, but they're still fairly damn awesome if I do say so myself. And remember, crafting is relaxing and creative, and charity is rewarding.
Hopefully one day Tom will hear about us, but for now it's enough to just know we're helping people. Good luck and happy crafting, Love, Jypsi (Tumblr: therisingharvestmoon) (Twitter: @jypsi_shmipsi)
All 66 squares so far. Sorry its been a long while since ive checked in. Schools out and i still have a bunch of yarn to use up so expect a few more before the end of the year!
Knittlestoned Prize Part 2, Loki Stuttgart Scarf!
:)
Hi Knittlestoners! An Update!
Hello all,
Hope you're still knitting and crocheting (if you have the time of course) and enjoying it!
I just needed to tell you that I'm bumping the competition ahead to Tom's Birthday, 2014, and if we keep this going (I really hope we can!) then Tom's Birthday will be the date prizes are given to winners.
Another change I am bringing in that you no longer have to send your squares to South Africa via 'Knit a Square'. Simply because I know postage is quite high to SA, and not everyone can afford to. Of course, if you CAN afford to and would like to continue to, feel free! I will still be sending my own squares there, but just as long as your squares are the same size as the one's for K.A.S, and as long as you can take photos of your work as proof, you do what you like. This means you can send them overseas, give them to a local/national charity, give them to an animal shelter, or even someone you know who is in need. As long as you aren't selling the blankets for your own profit - this is a charity function for people who can't afford to be warm. :)
I'm sorry to change the competition. I know you all have your hearts in this and are helping out for good reasons, but I like to maintain professionalism with everything I do. It's only fair to you.
So the prizes are still the same (two scarves and many tiny Tom dolls) and the square count is still the same, it's just I'm usually very busy at the end of the year, but by February, I have the time to breathe and relax. I tend to think I can do more in a period of time than I actually can. Sorry. ;)
I hope this is okay!
Lots of Love, Jypsi ----
To those who are wondering, 'Knittlestoned' is a group of Hiddlestoners (Tom Hiddleston fans) who knit AND crochet squares to make into blankets for charity. If you'd like to send an 'ASK' to Knittlestoned, I'd be happy to answer it. Cheers. :)
knittlestoned turned 1 today!
Thanks everyone for your input thus far :D
